Who will run in 2020?

I think Castro would be fine. I wouldn’t go too far in picking a VP to make the establishment happy though, Bernie is 78 years old.

Conventional logic says you pick someone young who is a PoC. But many people might fit that bill.

I would be a bit surprised if Bernie picked Castro or anyone else who wasn’t more like-minded (maybe Warren, but none of the other candidates). I also wouldn’t expect Bernie to worry that much about demographics, but if I were being a cynical strategist I would say picking a woman is the most important thing, then Latinx would be second most. Black people vote overwhelmingly Dem anyway, but Hispanics have way more swing and the first Hispanic VP might get some voters either to swing or just turn out.

Absolutely.

Voted Trump and Obama

Genuine question. Is it a shitty attack?

I think so, because as written it implies that Warren is no better than Pete, which I think she clearly is–not schmoozing rich donors now is better than schmoozing rich donors now. It doesn’t make her as good as a candidate who has never relied on rich donors, but still it’s a slight improvement.

Let’s not pretend the media is just calling balls and strikes here.

Fair answer, thanks. I guess I still think it’s weird for HER to be the one criticizing him, but I get your point.

Quibbling about which candidate you should prefer to beat Trump is, to quote Alan Bennett when he was asked whether he was straight or gay, like asking a dying man in the desert which brand of mineral water he’d prefer.

It’s really not and the whole disaffected “what does it matter who becomes president as long as it’s not orange man” schtick is really dumb.

There is only one candidate that consistently polls higher among Trump voters than Yang.

Really dumb is backing a candidate who ticks all the right boxes apart from the ability to beat Trump.

It’s pretty much impossible for anyone to think their favorite candidate isn’t the one most likely to beat Trump.

Why the emphasis on polls here showing head to head vs Trump?

That’s reasonable, but still everyone has an excuse for why they don’t matter.

I’m the only reasonable person on the board and perhaps anywhere and I’ll admit the polls might be better than my guesses, people suck, and Biden may well be the most likely to beat Trump.
