Who will run in 2020?

The problem isnā€™t lack of money for the k-12 schools (not from school to school in CA - overall spending is different), itā€™s economic segregation in housing combined with location based schools.

If you want to solve this, maybe every school, every city, every neighborhood, has to have 30% affordable housing in its area no matter what.

Love how Pelosi yesterday basically sabotaged the two most left leaning and front running Democratic candidates by opining how sheā€™s not for M4A and fuck a far left agenda. When was the last time a Republican speaker turned their back on the base by telling them s/he doesnā€™t give a shit what they want?

The Democratic leadership are pathetic. Canā€™t wait til these old people die off and/or get primaried. Itā€™s all out war not only with the GOP, but with these establishment status quo Dems. If we win in 2020, we should primary every fucking one of them!

We donā€™t have to wait to see the 2020 results for that to happen.

The tax cuts and the Obamacare repeal.

Iā€™ve already donated. The rest of you should too. If nothing else maybe tons of grassroots support will make Nancy consider stop attacking the future of her party.

Do you guys prefer a 100% Biden win or a 70% Trump/30% Warren shot?

In that exact scenario Biden and itā€™s not close. If itā€™s 70% Warren/30% Trump, letā€™s gambol.

M4A will poll poorly in the general election after Rā€™s realize they can run on stuff like ā€œtheyā€™re turning healthcare into the post office/DMVā€. Sheā€™s not wrong. Yes, theyā€™re all really stupid for saying it out loud.

Biden is nowhere close to a 100% win though. Heā€™s probably worse than Warren in the general frankly.

The more people get to know him the more trash he appears to be. Iā€™m not saying Warren is the best anti Trump candidate in the field, but it certainly isnā€™t Biden.

I wish I knew of a way to bet against you on that one.

I wouldnā€™t even want to gamble on these numbers. Better question though is do you prefer Biden at 50/50 or Warren at 90/10? Because thatā€™s closer to reality.

You live in a vastly different world than I do.

Your worldview is out of date. Itā€™s right there in the numbers:

Youth turnout nearly doubled from 2014-2018 in a midterm. Imagine what itā€™s going to be like with Trump on the ballot. Expecting 18-29 to go from 48% to 65-70% in 2020 is betting on the favorite here.

Also Biden is a garbage candidate whose campaign staff live in terror of him ever speaking spontaneously. Because heā€™s garbage. Itā€™s not that Warren is the best candidate ever (sheā€™s good but not that good) itā€™s that Biden is a trash fire. We nominate him and weā€™re maybe at 60-40 and thatā€™s vs the worst major party nominee in the history of the country not named Hillary.

Bipartisanship is dead. Centrism is dead. The viability window on their policy solutions closed. If we were going to do the moderate/centrist thing on healthcare or climate the time to do it was 2008. The GOP decided not to cooperate and now neither one actually works. Combine that with the fact that weā€™re in an unprecedented spot economically where the incoming crash is going to be spectacular and youā€™ve got a powder keg soaked in gasoline.

Read this article without wanting to throw up. If you could read it without feeling at least somewhat nauseous you didnā€™t really understand itā€¦ and that dude is quite literally the best macroecon guy on planet earth so if your opinion is that you know more than him and heā€™s wrong your opinion is worth absolutely nothing.

We are headed, globally, for a cliff. Weā€™ve made a lot of promises to ourselves that simply cannot be kept. We are going to have to make some hard choices about what stays and what goes, and if we donā€™t make them in 2020 that itself is a choice that will have significant economic and political consequences. Trump is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Expect things to get super weird from here or get caught totally flat footed.

Just yesterday you thought Warren had decided to raise taxes on the middle class so yeah weā€™re living in different worlds.

I am more afraid of comparisons to the VA.

The only thing that matters in the presidential race is the electoral college which warren scares the **** out of me. Centrism is dead but those voters wonā€™t be yet by 2020.

From an actuarial point of view some of them have definitely died, and people tend to vote more as they get olderā€¦ and weā€™re now 4 years further down the timeline. They are losing people on both ends.
