Who will run in 2020?

LOL Pete. Just skip to the inevitable Paul Ryan “I tried and now I’m a shameless sellout” phase.

yep! he’s buddies with all those guys!

Ill be honest, this Zuckerburg thing has me laughing, because I knew he visited south bend…I think Pete talks about it in his book, even. like, it’s not something they ever tried to hide. I think you can even find the videos somewhere on facebook that Zuckerberg livestreamed.

I’ve known about that visit for so long that seeing you guys go batshit about it now is just funny. Also, I’m a realist who understands that a mayor of a city is going to do what is in the best interests of his city, and if giving Zuckerberg a tour and showing him the local sights is good PR, which it was in 2017, then fine.

As for now, I’ll just leave this here:

I think basically any small town mayor would do the same thing in 2017. Is it fair to judge Pete for this picture? Perhaps not but the optics are horrible given the current sentiment towards big tech moguls in general and the Zuck in particular. And then throw in the fact that Pete kinda seems to be big tech and big pharma and basically big everything’s golden boy and it’s not great.

Mayor Pete is not great, but there’s no reason he shouldn’t allow himself to be in a picture with Zuck. Bernie probably would have allowed something similar when he was a mayor, though it’s not likely that he would have had billionaires interested in hanging out.

I agree? I said it’s unfair to Pete that it’s bad optics but man is it ever bad optics.

I disagree vehemently. We spend more per capita than ~all of the countries who have single payer, so we are virtually guaranteed to save money going to Medicare for All. It’s also worth pointing out that the graph you’re citing from the NYT is for 2019, presumably if it had been implemented 1/1/19. But, of course, the per capita costs could be expected to go down over time due to the cost control that you get from the leverage of single payer and due to the populace becoming healthier once everyone has access to healthcare.

Cool, cool… Now show us the part where he calls his big tech donors and tells them not to worry cause he has their backs, and the stuff he’s saying about regulating them is just the stuff he has to say publicly.

That little revelation upthread was just as bad, if not worse, than the disingenuous M4A attacks.

And his 2% support is “rich dudes in NYC/SF who don’t like seeing pictures of the kids in cages.” Bye.

We also spend more on the F-35 than all the other countries’ fighter programs combined and it’s straight garbage. It’s reasonable to not be convinced the American political system can turn the American health care system into Norway’s.

Which will literally never change with centrist corporatist losers in office.

so that article says nothing about that, except at the very end it uses this tweet as a source:

I’ve seen this claim made literally nowhere else, so until I see more proof, i’m gonna be skeptical of a claim that is dubiously sourced at best.

Where did the $26 million come from?

The picture and the loose Harvard connection is a nothingburger and is actually a completely reasonable explanation for the relationship with Zuck.

That just distracts from the bigger story which is the GOP talking point attacks on M4A and the numerous closed door fundraisers. That said, and as Keed points out, the optics of that pic probably does more damage (unfairly) than his private fundraiser itinerary and subsequent attacks on M4A.

in quarter 2? 400k donors

Pete almost trading at parity with Biden on PI.
