One nice thing about economics is, as Marx well knew, that it’s a form of base reality. You can bullshit, distort, blow single events into widespread narratives, none of which is particularly vulnerable to reality, but (as Trump discovered like 5 times) you can’t bullshit checks that don’t cash.
