inflation driving up wages isn’t the slam dunk conservatives think it is.

Truly warms the heart.
Baseball, Apple Pie, Chevrolet and Gitmo Bay
Not really lol media aside from the headline, but wasn’t sure where to put it. This rings so true.

and it turned out the systemic racism was inside us the whole time.

The charitable interpretation is that she was settling. There is no Japanese or no bus, but this school still has IB (it wasn’t explicit about North not having it) and is 30 min closer. So, her choices are
School 1
No Japanese
No Bus
55 min away
Sound like no IB
School 2
No Japanese
No Bus
25 min away
Has IB program
Has “top academic ratings”
I don’t know that picking school 2 equates to racism. Now if it turns out the 55 min turns into a half hour if Mom drives her directly and the other school actually does have the IB program, then maybe there is something to it.
Haven’t read the article yet. Will do it later.
The schools are on opposite ends of the city. The drive is probably 25 minutes without traffic taking a major highway, not sure what time the schools start anymore so it could be worse in morning traffic. 55 minutes using buses is actually less than I would have guessed. Also a pretty big assumption that the parent’s can make that drive everyday but maybe the article says one of them doesn’t work, didn’t read it.
The racism is accepting school 1 as-is rather than being outraged by the obvious injustice
High school Japanese is a gateway to wasting time on a ridiculously complicated language that you’re never going to use in any practical way.
But watching anime without dubs/subtitles is the end goal of all weebs
The whole rising/rampant crime narrative is so infuriating and lazy. Pretty much everywhere was at historic lows, so an increase probably puts places at like 2017 levels, when literally nobody was writing stories about how bad crime was.
Also, didn’t read the article but I could see crime-solving being harder because everyone’s wearing masks, but I say that knowing nothing about crime-solving.
That’s all high school languages in the USA unless it’s Spanish or something that you have family that speaks. Minus the ridiculously complicated part, of course.
Korean pop culture is in style now, and I’m guessing Korean is a much easier language to pick up.
Really? Why?
Edit: I looked into it some more and it looks like you’re right, but I still am unclear why.
