Live from FEMA HQ, on the anniversary of Katrina, as one of the strongest storms ever to hit Louisiana bears down on the state, while they are simultaneously dealing with their highest COVID peak… now, for my question on Afghanistan…

“rising right-wing radio star” is a fun way to say “failed actress,” but I’m sure Dana doesn’t care what exactly you call her as long as she’s getting some kind of attention from somebody now that the NRA isn’t cutting her checks anymore.

why are they writing articles about her?

In case you’re wondering why the media is such a shithole, it’s because of stupid shit like this:

Students must have had previous experience in a major newsroom

So to get an internship where you gain experience in a major newsroom, you have to have…experience in a major newsroom? Paging Joseph Heller…

This is much more sports than politics, but it’s most definitely a poor media outlet choice:

That last part was news to me (“Most of the players are junior college dropouts who are nowhere near high school age”).

At that level, even 2 yrs makes a huge difference. If IMG is playing 18-year-olds and the Bishop Sycamore kids are about 20, that makes the beatdown even more impressive. Those kids must be really bad and/or really badly coached to get so thoroughly beat with that kind of age advantage.

Yeah, I read about the scandal before seeing the score, and then I was like, wait, what? Who got beat down?

Yikes.

“He said that the university had shared the students’ names with the U.S. military, and that the military’s protocol was to share that information with the Taliban to coordinate access to the airport,” the correction states. “He did not say the U.S. military had shared with the Taliban a list of students trying to leave Afghanistan.”

I’m not sure which part of that is supposed to be the significant difference requiring correction - is it that he simply said it’s protocol to share the list, but didn’t have specific knowledge that they followed protocol in this instance? Or is it that the “that information” shared with the Taliban as part of normal protocol wasn’t the list of names?

Add me to the list of confused. I have no idea what the correction is.

There was no “list”. Each name was handed over on a separate piece of paper ldo.
