This. Didn’t need the last paragraph.
The NYT have for a long time been caving to, or actually pandering to, right wing people yelling at them.
Still doesn’t beat online poker tho’
I looked at the guys Twitter and was like oh he is a comedian and maybe pocketchads didn’t get the joke before realizing this guy is a fake centrist right wing joe rogan wannabe podcasting comedian and isn’t joking
No, she shouldn’t. No one should. It’s literally impossible to do. We shouldn’t expect reporters to be neutral, either. We should expect them to be open about their perspectives and what views they hold so we can have some idea where they are coming from in their reporting.
Disgraced insurrectionist ruminates about cancel culture:
A “Karen” who cuts the wrong person off in traffic gets followed home on a livestream and shamed into crying for mercy as her license plate is broadcast to an online hoard eager to hound her out of a job.
Oddly he doesn’t provide a link to this when I can think of a half dozen “Karens” who did some pretty terrible things, which apparently he wants to provide cover for
Also, whatever happened to personal responsibility, huh? If she didn’t want to get followed like that she shouldn’t have cut the guy off.
Conservatism is not so fun when equally applied.
Here you go:
He completely white-washed the story.
This still sounds like a completely psychotic thing to do. Following a woman to her house and blocking her car from exiting the driveway because she cut you off and flipped the bird?
Edit: she apparently also called him the n word. That was buried halfway down for some reason. I still think it’s pretty crazy, and honestly the guy is lucky he didn’t get shot the moment he blocks her car into the driveway and gets out to confront her.
He also claims she followed him first. It sounds like a standard road rage incident - both should have let it go.
It’s also not really cancel culture though. I don’t think she has ever been identified and don’t recall anyone trying to get her fired. It got popularity just because of her freak out and trying to cover the license plate. Many speculated that the whole thing was fabricated as it sounds like over-acting.
“Karlos Dillard: More than just a viral video star”
Pick up some of that sweet Karen shaming merch:
Seems legit.
Great.
Here’s the most serious NYT political reporter on the payroll, essentially saying Biden should slow down and try to work with Republicans (thereby wasting precious time and dooming his presidency), or something. This is hackish punditry from an alleged “straight news” political reporter, and it’s somehow ok? While you fire a god damn foreign correspondent for a harmless tweet nobody saw?
This tweet very clearly communicates a political preference under the guise of “reporting.” Either have rules or don’t, but this is bullshit. Did this motherfucker tweet about how the GOP should give bipartisanship a “to be sure” a single time in the last 4 years? Fuck you.

What does neutral even mean in any given situation? It’s impossible to tell, and it almost certainly allows bad-faith actors to manipulate the Overton window. For instance, in a situation like we now find ourselves, we have an outgoing President who, however incompetent, tried to overthrow our democracy, and one coming in who promised to restore and strengthen those democratic institutions. Wtf is neutral in this situation? Is it biased to express relief and excitement that a wannabe dictator was effectively ousted and our democratic institutions showed some resiliency? Or is that biased because one person is a D and the other is in team R? Can’t you see how unworkable and stupid such a standard is?
It seems perfectly workable. If you’re a reporter stfu about your own political opinions and do your job. I obviously don’t think anyone should be fired over that sort of thing unless it is repeated and egregious, which this doesn’t seem to meet either threshold. The only threshold I was arguing it met was making fun of her dumb tweet, similar to Chris “thrill go up my leg” Matthews.
Oh look, he wears the watch because it belonged to his dead son. Which they could have figured out in 5 minutes if they had bothered to ask (the article was idiotic anyway). Fuck these people.
Bringing back to Hawley though. It’s definitely not cancel culture and has nothing to do with The Tech Lords, or Right Thoughts, or whatever, but he does flatten it down to “White people are having their lives ruined by minorities using the amazing abilities of technology” though
I am kind of amazed that both Hawley and Cruz are both Ivy League stars, apparently very smart, and both have latched onto this hyper whinny loser nerd who happens to also foment insurrection persona.
both Ivy League stars, apparently very smart,
Part 2 doesn’t follow from Part 1. Psychopathy is just as useful at Ivy League schools as elite smarts.
