What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas. Except Threesomes.

I’m getting the itch to play some live Aria PLO, but am too used to spending $30-40/night in Latin America for pretty nice rooms so am getting a bit of sticker shock seeing $100/night (and prob resort fees) for just the Excalibur.

Trying to rope my parents into a trip so they can give me a free room. They’re huge degens who drop 5 figs a year into slots (Mum) and video poker (Dad). Although my Dad actually studies optimal strategy and looks for the best machines. I can’t imagine how he finds it fun after all these years, but to each their own.

That’s sad to hear! The Wynn 15/30 was one of my favorite games when I lived in Vegas back in 05-08. Took like $60k out of that game lifetime

I also like the flamingo and they have surprisingly solid beer options, but 2/4 is just too low. You can be on a massive heater and raising every pot and win like $91.

Drunk 4/8 at the bellagio leaves you the option to go play 20/40 if you feel like it

The very first time I played poker in Vegas was a 1/2 limit table at Excalibur. Had Kings one hand and got it capped every street 4 ways after flopping a King. Turned out to be set over set over set on the flop with the 4th person hitting running spades to win with a 24ss,

I lost like 60 bucks that hand. Pretty interesting first Vegas poker experience

God I miss early 2000s Bellagio.

Craps: Pass line and 2 come bets. 3/4/5 odds.
Nothing inside, except I’m always tempted to put down a Field bet when I have 5,6,8 covered.

Booked june 20th thru 24th. At least 3 nights will be poker. I want to hit 3 rooms I’ve never been to. I’m thinking Sahara, Caesars, and Wynn. Yet I somehow always end up at MGM or PH.

I think it’s hilarious how many people on here are all going to Vegas at different times in the month of June. There is like no overlap.

Wynn is a must imo. Nicest poker room on the strip. And the non-alcoholic drink options are phenomenal. I’m sure the alcoholic options are top notch too, I just rarely drink when playing. If you are a coffee drinker, you’ll like the Wynn mochas/cappuccinos/lattes/etc.

% in Vegas is to low to be able to have an enjoyable session there, if he can find slots at 94/95% range then it’s possible to gain an edge, otherwise your already losing some game play with lower %.

With lower % the optimal start is to bet x10 more, move up from $1 or $5 to $10 & $50 on the modern gaming machines in the high limit, stay away from the old style 3 armed bandits etc that are all over the place, betting in the high limit will always give more rewards over time I think it reasonable to say because they do like the slot players who play there more, obviously only spend and take the same amounts, play less but higher.

I could send some tips your dad’s way but unfortunately you cannot use them in Vegas because of the laws there wrt gaming machines that can affect the % on certain models when changing stakes at the correct time, causing the gaming machine to pay the fairer, these machines are designed to pay the % by playing a certain exact system, cannot be cheated into paying more, but try taking that to a judge.

Atlantic City, baby!

It’s sucks. I was being a smartass. It’s about as Vegas as Duluth, Minnesota.

Lol Atlantic City is a shithole. Borgata and Ocean are nice enough but you can’t really do much outside the casinos. Your biggest gamble is walking between casinos or going from the boardwalk to the bay (Borgata/Harrah’s/GN). The big difference that sets it apart form Vegas is that there was never any investment made in the city outside of the casinos themselves. Walking down the Vegas strip is actually enjoyable and safe. Walking down Atlantic Ave is, well, very far from either of those things. It’s ashame because it could have been a cool destination if it had been done properly, but the flip side of that is a lot of people under the poverty line would have been forced out of their homes.

What do you find appealing in Vegas? It will make it easier to find a destination. Poker is probably better in Florida for example. Restaurants are better in NYC.

An all inclusive resort with a casino sounds right up your alley. Pretty much every AI outside of Mexico has casinos but expect shittier rules/payouts than vegas probably.

I’m a huge fan of all inclusive resorts. It fits all my personality defects perfectly.

All inclusive restaurants generally also have shit restaurants and no entertainment options approaching what you’ve got access to in LV.

They would get you the drink and pool. But fall short on the gamble (as you point out), eat, shows and ‘whatever’.

I don’t know whether the Miami CBD has a casino but it meets your other requirements. New Orleans has one casino near the French Quarter.

New Orleans seems like the winner to me. Pick the right time of year and a hotel with a decent pool (I don’t know that I’ve stayed at one, but I assume one must exist), and I think you will check all the boxes (except maybe shows, depending on one’s tastes).

It’s not as compact as Vegas, but that’s tough to find anywhere else.

Montreal is similar to NOLA except for weather.
