What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas. Except Threesomes.

Going to Vegas this weekend. Booked it without realizing it would be March Madness. It will be my first time staying at the Cosmo.

Do people really flock to Vegas for a month long tournament? That seems, weird.

First weekend is what everyone comes out for because of the volume of games.

I’m going the following weekend. We thought about trying the first week of games but wanted to avoid the bigger crowds. It also happens to be a friend’s 40th birthday.

I’m going because I have free rooms I have to use before mid-April and there happens to be a WSOP circuit event at Horseshoe with non-NL stuff I like to play. Actually going to be out there for a week.

I think the poker games are supposed to be good.

1st weekend of games is probably one of the bigger events for Vegas visitors. Doesn’t have any appeal to me since I don’t watch college ball.

Hoping it’ll be more reasonable next weekend, staying in the burbs at GVR tho.

Try some places in the new FB hotel.

I don’t have a strong desire to go there.

I hear the $21 nachos are worth the price!

They fixed those. Supposedly, some people were ordering them, hoping to get pictures for social media, and were disappointed to be given a full plate.

Heading in tomorrow and staying until Monday at the LINQ with friends. I haven’t been to Vegas in over a decade and I’m looking for suggestions.

Firstly, any good cheapish eats around LINQ?

We’re mostly going to watch Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games, with our team playing on Thursday. We’re planning on going to sportsbooks and bars for the games, then also venture out to Fremont Street, Top Golf, and maybe The Sphere. We were talking about trying to get a hike or something, but I think that might be a “wait and see how people are handling hangovers” type thing. Anything else you’d recommend? I think I’m just going to keep reminding folks that we’re here for 5 days and we need to pace our old selves :joy:

I’ll be playing some poker and see that I’m pretty close to Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian, and Horseshoe (which has WSOP Circuit going on), so I’ll probably hit those up out of convenience, any of those I should avoid? Prob just playing 1/3 or 2/5NL and would be torching money if I played PLO

It’s a bit of a hike (prob 20 mins one way from LINQ) but Tacos el Gordo is just north of Wynn/Encore and always great for cheap-ish tacos.

Thai Food - Lamaii in Chinatown or Lotus of Siam are a quick cab ride but including transport prob same price as similar options around the Strip’s North Center.

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the food quality in the MGM Grand’s sports bar near the sports book, but I also think that the lower end of Vegas Strip Food options has improved in the decade since I’ve been going there.

I hiked Turtlehead Peak in Red Rocks one year during March Madness. It was a great way to spend an afternoon and you get pretty amazing views from the summit (including being able to see the LV strip). I remember it being fairly strenuous but doable for a fairly out of shape 35 year old at the time.

Linq Promenade has a lot of food options but I can’t speak to most of them. Only one I’ve been to is Yardhouse to watch football. Decent spot for that, lots of food and beer options, TVs everywhere.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just did a little more walking around the promenade in google maps and it should have enough options for my Midwest palette friends.

Nacho Daddy is a shitty name but they do have good, reasonably priced nachos. At planet Hollywood, so not far of a walk for you.

Yeah their menu looked pretty fun. I have it on my list of possibilities for my next trip

If you are a Sportsbook aficionado you definitely want to check out the book at Circa. It’s downtown but it’s pretty insane. Going to Barry’s there tonight with a local that claims it is elite but can’t vouch yet.
