I hate Arak and anise flavored stuff, but arak is def popular drink here.
If you haven’t booked a room for WSOP yet…

The Lexi (formerly the Artisan).
Neat, but I’ve been getting high in Vegas hotels for years with little to no issue. I just wish there were some shops within walking distance of the strip center.
Mini trip report from a couple weekends ago. We went out with a large crew celebrating my father-in-laws birthday. I went full baller mode and booked a cabana at the Flamingo pool on Saturday. It was nice getting the VIP treatment for a day as we cracked our first beers around 9am. This was my first Vegas trip where I played zero hands of poker (unless you count my work trip during the nastier parts of the COVID shutdown) and didn’t really do much gambling outside of sitting with my wife at a few slots.
Each time I visit this town I discover different things I enjoy doing, but I think now I just like bar hopping and otherwise wandering out around finding dumb shit to do.
Going to Vegas Wednesday for a few days with a buddy to eat and smoke cigars.
We have tickets to the neon museum. Anybody been?
I haven’t lived in Vegas for over a decade… Is the walk from the neon museum to say Circa or Fremont Street safe-ish?
What is a weed unfriendly hotel? Either it’s legal or not.
Anti-smoking establishments.
Is there a hotel that doesn’t just follow local ordinances?
I think it’s the extent to which they follow them that determines their relative level of friendliness
Anybody know of anyone who employed at least minimal discretion getting busted for blazing in a hotel?
Previously, it was only legal to use in private residences. They have since legalized cannabis lounges and this hotel will have one.
Headed to Vegas tomorrow, for the first time.
I will be in Vegas next Tuesday. Haven’t booked my return flight yet, but probably staying through the next two weekends, so a bit under two weeks.
If anyone has interest in splitting a two-for-one buffet at the Wicked Spoon at Cosmo during that period, let me know.
This is the most Kessler post ever.
Kessler doesn’t spend money on food at all if he can help it. He invites people to comped meals under an arrangement where they tip so he doesn’t have to. I’m offering to pay my half including tip. I got matched to a tier where I apparently get a two for one daily.
Also, Wicked Spoon has great food and Kessler hates flavor. Is there anyone who’s been there who hated it?
This is also good for my health because I have less of a psychological desire to get my money’s worth and overeat (as much) if i am only paying half.
“You’re kicking out the lowest end,” explained Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg during a call with analysts this month. “I see no reason that that needs to stop or would stop.”
Casinos in the city raked in a record $8.3 billion in revenue from card games, slot machines, and other forms of table betting like roulette last year, even as the number of visitors failed to reach the 2019 pre-pandemic levels.
According to the WSJ, analysts at Vegas Advantage estimate that more than two-thirds of all blackjack tables on the Strip are now only offering only 6:5 payouts as opposed to more favorable 3:2 ratio they have historically offered when a player hits 21 on the first two cards.
Finally, casinos are also shutting down table games, citing the rising costs for paying their dealers, in favor of more automated electronic games.
The good times may be over, at least temporarily. Fitch Ratings forecast in January a demand pullback in the U.S. following last year’s “exceptionally strong performance” for the industry that is traditionally led by Nevada and more specifically by the Strip.
So, poorer gamblers are smarter than dumbass rich whales?
Feels like the strip has been mostly 6:5 for a long time, that’s not really anything new right? We also get those sick triple 0 roulette wheels now too
