What are you listening to

We’re all a looooon

Saw Dermot Kennedy tonight. Incredible show. Does anyone listen to him?

Love these music threads. You get to discover some great stuff.
Grunching past the parts of the thread where the arguments start, but here’s my contribution. Been listening to a bunch of Samantha Fish. Great blues rock guitarist with a pretty great voice too. She’s the real deal. Blues rock stuff here, but she does some warbly singing too.

Have you seen the live shows? Total fucking circus.

Yngwie is an asshole.

saw Vai once a few years back at the Voodoo Lounge within Harrah’s Casino iirc

The Keneally lineups were my favorite. Last show I saw was without him though. Had two violinists and I can’t remember who else exactly besides Dave Wiener. But it was a long show with no opener, just 100% melt your face off for 3 hours. I’m not really into it that much any more but glad I saw it a few times while my testosterone levels were still detectable. Would much rather see Buddy Guy now.

yeah… i’m pretty much less fanatical about stuff these days, too, my occasional post in this forum notwithstanding.

this is the shit here… check it Jungle Eyes and Cry for You … Goat

In which we re-re-re-litigate our inner thoughts about classic electronic music. Dusted off my catalog here and giving another listen for the first time in a while and I pull this classic:

On one hand I love the way it sounds. On the other hand, it’s basically the options menu music for a first gen Playstation game–very linear, no cadence, no tension, no resolve.

I might have posted this before, but whatever. Tribe plus the Fugees, what an absolutely classic track from the golden age of hip-hop:

Yngwie is a colossal asshole. Like, on the ride back home my bro and I were raving about how awesome the opening band was and how they totally upstaged him.

Quick Yngwie take, I don’t love peak Yngwie runs that much, but aside from the undeniable skill, I genuinely like when he switches things up during the course of the piece. Thinking of the iconic/best game but the obvious choice Icarus’ Dream slays as both?

I have this album somewhere. It’s his best work imo and that’s a good piece. I just can’t really do the neoclassical shred anymore. Would rather listen to Jeff Beck with one hand tied behind his back.

Have you ever read or listened to any of his interviews? Dude has NPD levels surpassed maybe only by fake presidents. Google gave me this FEATURED SNIPPET in the form of a block quote:

Jake E. Lee has slammed Yngwie Malmsteen , calling the legendary Swedish axeman "an arrogant fucking asshole " who is “only really good at one minute aspect of the art of playing guitar.”

Love Jake. He and Brad Gillis are my favorite Ozzy guitarists, and I’m not gonna get in the middle of that feud, but Yngwie’s legacy is secure and will survive the test of time.

the passage that starts at :50 is sharp. That tempo maintained between each interval

then 2:34 that ominous slide into his solo idea Goat
