Nah I can reply to a comment that is off topic then you can, then I can, then you can tell me I’m off topic.
Well I don’t know, I seem to have hit a raw nerve so I’m going to leave it here if there’s nothing new.
Yeah I don’t like when people tell me what I can and can’t post.
I pointed out that there’s a thread for your UK-specific post, and you got your knickers in a twist about it for some reason. Try posting there, you’d be warmly received.
Right can’t talk about the brits xenophobia here. Got it.
Either way I don’t think most Americans are fearful of a civil war or a major uprising from the election. Think most are to busy trying to deal with a virus and life and just don’t think about that possibility.
As for those who are fearful. Well the odds of bad things happing are higher then anytime in most of our lifetimes so a little healthy fear is a good thing. And if you are a minority and trump goons are poll “watching” your polling place completely justified.
You’re free to post what you want dude. I was trying to point out that it’s not relevant to this thread, but whatever.
This is obviously a difficult time for everyone and I want to tiptoe away for now.
Both of the POTUS BOWLs that B.Obama won I managed not to hear about it for a while, in one case ~3 days IIRC. I just avoided looking at the newspapers, and in 2012 didn’t check 2+2 Politards. I still listened to the music on the radio, and watched sportsball like normal. Both times I finally found out at the poker table. Some fools thought it was open season on n-word jokes, and part of the pushback referenced the POTUS BOWL final.
D.Trump’s POTUS BOWL win intruded upon music on the radio and sportsball… so no blissful ignorance for me. For this POTUS BOWL… I don’t listen to music on the radio or play poker anymore, there is no sportsball on POTUS BOWL night, LOL @ newspapers, and no, I don’t feel the need to live blog this event here on UnStuck.
But I don’t think I can even look at my phone or tv without having to know here in 2020. The political-entertainment complex has really gotten this omni-present and all-encompassing.
As to what “we” are doing (as opposed to “you” personally), this is actually a thing…
While the US doesn’t have a tradition of popular mobilization to overcome coups, around the world popular resistance has repeatedly helped defeat attempts to overthrow democratic governments. Two studies, The Anti-Coup by Gene Sharp and Bruce Jenkins and Civil Resistance Against Coups by Steven Zunes, examine civilian resistance to 15 coups.
In 13 cases the resistance succeeded in overcoming the coups, primarily through nonviolent mass action.
The key lessons of these past anti-coup movements are summarized by Zunes:

The San Diego local branch of the IWW has adopted this resolution:
“In the case of any illegitimate transfer or retention of power or coup in the federal election, the San Diego IWW Local 13 calls for a general strike. An illegitimate transfer or retention of power may include, but is not limited to, voter intimidation, mass voter disfranchisement through impounded ballots, extraordinary legal means, or organized violence.”
All of this needs to be ready to go at a moments notice. To help organize this, we are attempting to get the ball rolling…
Saturday October 31, at 2 PM at [virtual meeting URL]
Union stewards, activists, community organizers, please come to an online community meeting to begin forming a regional strike committee and to plan a San Diego “next day” action in the event of a coup.
From the LaborNotes article…
In Detroit, retired postal mechanic Jane Duggan read the same article and boiled it down to a one-page flyer, including the Choose Democracy pledge to take to the streets and shut the country down if necessary to prevent a coup.
Her Postal Workers (APWU) local is printing a thousand copies of a shortened version on union letterhead to pass out at post offices and the main sorting plant, share with retirees and neighbors, and distribute at the union’s Halloween “Trunk or Treat.”
“To me the point is to get the discussion going, especially among workers, about our possible role in preventing or stopping a coup,” Duggan said.
This is that one page flyer…
…
3. Know that coups have been stopped by regular folks.
To start preparing, talk to at least 5 people who would go into the
streets with you — the safest way to take to the streets is with
people you know and trust.
…
10. Prepare to deter a coup before the election. In that spirit, Choose
Democracy has created a pledge:
- We will vote.
- We will refuse to accept election results until all the
votes are counted.- We will nonviolently take to the streets if a coup is
attempted.- If we need to, we will shut down this country to
protect the integrity of the democratic process.DEFEND DEMOCRACY. TAKE THE PLEDGE. SHARE WIDELY.
Are you ever not a douche?
Bought a box of hollow-point shells for my Magnum. All set.
I have a feeling the coming days/weeks will be some of the craziest and quit possibly tumultuous times of our lives. Nothing would surprise me. From peaceful acceptance if Trump loses, to violent civil unrest. Oh we’re also bound for the worst pandemic numbers yet. I think it’s gonna be a rough few weeks/months. Hope everyone here stays safe
take care of yourself man
jebus
Is there some Bongino/Hannity/Rush/etc encouraging this brigades, WTF???
wat
I read they also blocked a bridge with the blessing of cops (not one rubber bullet nor any pepper spray used unlike if it were BLM) in addition to harassing a Biden bus Friday (I think)
Say safe and stay strong @PocketChads. You’re doing the work that needs to be done. Not sure what percentage of the Trump supporting populace is actually violent. This gave me a little hope. I mean, those who aren’t uber wealthy or racists, are mostly plain delusional. I was expecting a lot more threats
Yep. Inside my town it’s only legal to smoke in a private residence, up to 20% of hotel rooms, or in a moving vehicle.
But god forbid people are made to wear a mask for public well being within 10 feet of a building. Where’s muh freedom?!
