Not sure how that conforms to the offensive realism framework.
they didnât? the west just woke up one day and soviets were allies all of a sudden? you think fdr didnât support the allies even before pearl harbor?
thatâs a very lazy analysis even for you keed. just read the Lend-Lease wiki, itâs all in there.
I donât think the genocidal nature of the German war in the east was talked about in the west. Of course people knew the Germans were invading Russia.
If Ukraine is an existential threat to Russia because of its flirtation with NATO or whatever and therefore it only makes sense for Russia to invade and occupy it, then surely Russia is an even bigger existential threat to Europe and the rest of the world by actually invading European nations, casually dropping nuclear threats, and committing war crimes left and right. So the other great powers have no logical choice but to find a way to take it over as well.
Ah I see, youâre just making shit up.
Right I think youâve figured out how this absurd theory works in practice!
Your description of it is asinine and inaccurate.
you do realize that holocaust was in full swing, no? you think noone talked about it? the invasion of poland had caused 2 million refugees to be displaced in 1939, before the eastern front. hundreds of thousands fled for USA.
so much so, that FDR realized he would be entering the war despite the neutrality acts.
Youâre free to elaborate, but I truly donât think itâs more asinine than âRussia invading Europe is the fault of the US.â
Of course the west talked about the holocaust after the war. I am saying the west didnât talk about how Germanyâs war in the east was genocidal in nature.
this is incorrect. it was talked about as genocidal in nature as it was happening. you really should just go read the wiki.
What wiki?
you can start with the article on lend-lease. then move on to refugee crises caused by ww2 and note the dates.
I did read the wikipedia article on lend lease and I have no idea what youâre talking about.
it clearly describes when the US started having enough concerns to actually start helping its allies, and how it correlates to atrocities that caused millions in europe to flee.
Lol you think the reason the us got involved in the war was because of concern about German atrocities?
Anyway, that has nothing to do with what I was saying, that after the war no one talked about the genocidal nature of the German invasion of USSR.
they did. during the war and after the war. eg atrocities like babij yar.
You think that there was and is a high level of American cultural awareness that the German invasion was genocidal against Russians? Agree to disagree I guess, and Iâm sure that suzzer agrees with me as heâs posted that ignorance of the immense brutality of the eastern front is a cultural blind spot that Americans have.
Looks like a good game of calvin ball!
