This is a film based Walrus I’m doing with RiskyFlush. Submissions will mostly be clips and they should be easily available (like on YouTube).
Clips should be understandable without having seen the film, but if it’s a really common film or something you’re pretty sure the judge has seen, maybe take a chance.
We’re going to score it like normal. We’re alternating categores and I’ll judge first. Send in your submission via PM, either all to both of us or each to the right judge, doesn’t matter. We won’t close off submissions until at least Friday at midnight California time, but might go longer if people want/need more time or whatever.
(remember - me first, then RF, alternating)
Most bad-ass tough guy or gal scene
Most humbling scene for bad-ass tough guy or gal
Funniest scene
Scene that makes you gasp in terror/shock/surprise
Sexiest scene that’s roughly still PG13
The one good scene in an otherwise terrible movie
Scene that you think is the best artistically - whether that’s cinematography, acting, music/score, writing or whatever. Just whatever hits you as an awesome artful moment in film.
Maybe you could give some suggestions about how to find clips? Do people have to be lucky to find something on youtube, or do you have certain streaming services common to both of you that people can be like, “43:40-45:50: Wild Things, Hulu.”
If something is generally available streaming, at least via purchase, don’t worry if you can’t find a YouTube video or anything. Give me title and timestamp. All via PM of course. If I can find a way to watch it, I will watch it.
One of my favorite posting things is just finding a clip from a movie on YouTube. You might have to go with your 2nd or 3rd or 4th choice, but everyone is in the same boat. Imo just use YouTube and don’t spend an eternity…it’s just a game.
picking one scene out of a movie is like picking a boat out of a rembrandt painting and saying, “hey look at just this boat”. but it’s part of something grander and it was never meant to be separate from the rest of the piece. so what we’re doing here with this game is butchering art, and butchering it in such a brutal and unnecessary way it’s probably more accurate to say we’re slaughtering art.
but hey, fuck it, nothing means anything, i’ll slaughter art, who cares?
