I donāt see a point.
I really liked this cover the first time I listened to it but after repeatedly listening to it Iāve totally gone off it, especially once you listen to the original again.
Talking Heads version so much better and that interpretive dance part from the original video is just the icing on the cake in true haters gonna hate fashion.
The song was intended as a B-side but Polygram said it was too good, so it became our third single. Iād come up with this dance for it and used to do it a lot in the studio, so the record company told me I had to do it in the video, since Curt was singing and there was nothing else for me to do. So there I was, stuck by this lake doing my flying wombat impersonation, but it worked.
People who think Disturbedās cover of The Sound of Silence is good are probably people who loved Uncle Krackerās version of Drift Away.
If there is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel song that surpasses the original, it is this one:
Agree. Itās not really a great S&G song and The Bangles version is good.
I saw Suzanna Hoffs not too long ago at a very small place (McCabeās in Santa Monica). I liked her newer stuff.
Is that why this song is popular with the kids? My brother has a step-son who is like 16 and in a band and they play this.
Sopranos, surely?
Even people who know this is a Springsteen song probably forget that it was Track 1 on his debut 1973 album, literally his introduction to the world. He was like 23, gonna be the next Dylan.
I grossly underrated Bruce Springsteen in my youth because he was so popular.
This is a good S&G cover, not sure itās better than the original but thatās just because the original is fantastic.
Not such good news for me - I took the āpopularā theme to heart and I unleashed the inner pop chart beast. Must get back to listening to semi -obscure northern English post-punk
OK finished my first listening of round 2, will review the songs by tomorrow hopefully and writeups either tomorrow or Saturday.
Why do I like everything better upon relistening?
All part of the pain that is Walrus hosting my friend!
Iām having to adjust my initial judging criteria in order to get a better hierarchy. Honestly having a lot of trouble ranking these, especially the middle levels.
I found I needed to listen to each track at least three times.
