Walrus Quarantine Version 1 - Reveal Thread

Shouldn’t this help his score since I agree with him? It was a bad category

Eating lunch, hopefully bbiab

I’m just saying your categories are incredible and you’re also looking very handsome today.

I wish. “Be back in a bit”

No, I got it, just, how often do you get the chance to post bibimbap pictures?

I get these at the LeeLee’s market in Chandler and just learned that they have a location in Tucson which you probably already knew.

Yar categories really are a lot harder than it seems. I think your approach here is fair given it’s tricky to judge, and appreciate you finding a way though. It can be easy to just want to abandon a category if the reveal feels really difficult.

Also, I could really go for some Bibimbap.

Yes LeeLee’s is great although I haven’t been there in a while.

Has everyone else ITT had a stroke or is it me?

I don’t know about a stroke, but jiggywiggy just had some bibimbap and that is now the most important thing for us to talk about.

I do feel like this is pretty fair although who knows what the ideal solution is. Let’s move onto
Technically Correct But I’m Happy to Never Hear This Again (2 pts)

We could also call this category “vaguely metal songs that I didn’t care for” submitted by Seities and Chuckleslovakian, respectively.

Alexisonfire - Dog’s Blood

Per Seities

I am not particularly into the first half of this song, but once it gets to 2:25 and then eventually Dallas Green’s vocals kick in starting at 3:18 this is excellent. It wouldn’t be in my playlist at all if not for the second half of the song.

I do agree that the second part of the song is better-it even reminded me a little of AFI, a band I used to listen to a lot-but overall this is not the type of music I’ll usually listen to, even if part of it is good.

Prequel to the Sequel - Between the Buried and Me

I love this song until the vocals start

In a lot of cases, having the intro be the best part of your song is not great because then people can just listen to the intro and then turn it off. However when your song is 9 minutes of screaming that may be for the better. This prog-rock style intro is pretty awesome though, and entries like this made me not want to score the category in the traditional manner, since I didn’t specify that I would take the whole song and not just the one specific part into my rankings.

I did not have bibimbap, I had a fairly gross lunch served by the hospital and now everyone’s ranks will suffer.

Yar, about as expected, especially given your feelings on Godsmack

I am a little surprised to find out you liked AFI. There is a pretty vast gap between their early stuff and most recent though. I listened to Sing the Sorry a huge amount in the few years after it’s release, and like some of what came before it. Not as much into the releases after that album though.

You had bibimbap and that’s all there is to it.

Sing the Sorrow and their earlier stuff was what I liked, I stopped listening when their albums went more mainstream.

Oh my prog metal.

Category 3 - Too Popular For Your Own Good (3pts)

Taylor Swift - Shake it Off

Alright I see what Swanky was going for here, this song has a catchy chorus and some good bits. In his own words:

The Mmm hmm bit, the lame spoken bit in the middle, the stupid catchy chorus. I blame my daughter. I tell myself I hate this song, but I’ve been singing it all morning. Damn you Walrus!

Ultimately this is a pretty zzz generic pop song though, and I’m not compelled to listen to it just for the chorus.

This would be a good category: Songs that begin with incredible potential and anticipation until the singer opens his damn mouth and ruins everything.
