Walrus Quarantine Version 1 - Reveal Thread

And yes, JohnnyTruant pulling a “reverse Jiggy” with back to back first place finishes thanks to:

De La Soul - Stakes is High

Yes, give me all the music like this please. De La Soul is a group I remember although I couldn’t tell you what songs they did. Not sure I ever heard this song in particular but it reminds me of a lot of stuff that I did like back then, and still do. Going with something a little bit less well known was a good choice, although I can’t say for sure that a great KRS-One or Nas song wouldn’t have gotten first place either. Thanks for all the submissions, will be back for round 4 when time permits.

(wow just realized Lauryn Hill is on this song)

Was there like a silent agreement not to pick anything from OK Computer? Like you can pick any song randomly and it should make the top 3.

Idk but honestly Radiohead is not my jam; they have some songs that would probably podium and others that would be middle of the pack or worse.

Spouse pick!

Fun little Mid-90s ditty that the submitter always really liked.

Regardless, team Canada is happy with the 5th place finish (at least one half of us)

This song is great but also too well known. Should’ve saved it for the one hit wonder Walrus.

Also arguably the best #1 billboard song of the 90s?

Three, it’s the magic number!

I forget what I submitted next and my last pick is trash so this is far from over!

The game within the game, respect

LOL Kid Rock, but I still have a soft spot for Devil Without a Cause (1998). I remember driving with friends from one party to another on a Saturday night with the windows down blasting I Am The Bullgod and Bawitdaba.

I also forgot that this album was in the right timeframe:

Too much rap to take this seriously and I don’t dislike any of the songs submitted.

Yeah there were three rap songs out of 12 submissions and they were clearly better than any of the genres I was sent, imo. You should be proud, you sent me the one fully palatable rock song!

I wasn’t talking about the number of submissions.

We just need to invite Dids to get the ultimate hip-hop-so-good-you-can’t-find-a-pressing-of-anywhere-in-the-world-except-this-lo-fi-yootoobz hipster rap battle for the title.

That does sound like it would do well here, especially in this last category. Negative bonus points on your previous entry for these takes. Did you have to resist the urge to write c-rap? Don’t think I won’t use this posting against you when our fantasy NBA squads face off!

Judging the next one should be fun. It’s supposed to be “a song you don’t love but love a certain part of” so I get to penalize people if the song is too good overall!

You’re correct, everyone that criticizes hip-hop is old and racist.

I’m sorry, was this supposed to be a walrus or a safe space?

You were wondering where the ANGST was so I brought it. Aren’t we supposed to be ribbing people for their shitty taste in music? I thought that’s what walrus was. Also I’ll take those J Dilla tracks over the Prince Pauls all fuckin’ day bro.
