At this point in this category, we have several entries that could’ve placed anywhere within this section of the reveal. anyway, just so you know.

with 3 big points, my main man beetle with Cicatriz ESP by The Mars Volta

very creative album title Deloused in the Comatorium, and I’d actually researched these cats superficially years back, hoping to find some magic, but it didn’t happen.

The 1st riff is pretty cool and rockin’, but they get too ambitious, trying to be Zep or something. Come on, kids, know your role, stay in your lane. jfc. Over 12 minutes gets docked automatica, the beetleGoat is untouched though. I actually enjoy the song despite its length and appreciate the initiative of the band.

I guess the drummer is widely well-regarded. Thomas Pridgen. He did a collab with Eric Gales and Doug Pinnick that is uh nice.

Next 2 are a fine little outfit from Austin Texas that actually coined the term ‘psychedelic rock.’ Who knew? And who knew Austin had that type scene back in the day? These guys are enjoyable to listen to. I hear a little Animals influence if I’m not mistaken. Contemporaries of a favorite of mine – Jefferson Airplane – both bands released their 1st and 2nd albums in 66 and 67 iirc. These guys are maybe a smidge more derivative of their influences than Airplane, but that’s just my cursory appraisal of the situation! I can dig it.

4 points for Paulie D for The 13th Floor Elevators’ You’re Gonna Miss Me

5 points for jalfrezi with Fire Engine by The 13th Floor Elevators

6 and 7 points respectively for skydiver and Master for their selections by The Dixie Chicks – Sin Wagon and Lullabye

Sin Wagon is cool, rockin’ in that country sorta way lol Hi, I’m Doyle Hargraves. “I play cards with the chief of PoeLease, so kiss my ass, you lil bastard!”

Lullabye :+1: How long do you wanna be loved? Is forever enough, is forever enough??

Love it… heartbreaking beautiful.

It is. Im not a huge fan of the DCs but my wife played this for me a few weeks ago and its aggresively beautiful. The harmony is breathtaking.

I cant imagine anyone who has ever had a child doesnt feel a deep twinge when listening to it, especially if things havent always been super smooth sailing with your kid

confirmed

man, thought this would be higher for sure.

I don’t listen to country regularly, but I tend to gravitate toward talent, and they are indisputably talented. In today’s world where no one writes their own songs or plays their own instruments anymore, seeing a group of badass women who do, and do it well, just lights me up.

Ok this kinda logjam of songs in the middle of this category’s reveal continues… the points awarded have a margin of error of like +/- 2 therefore.

with 8 points is Mimosadef with Tighten Up by Archie Bell & the Drells

This guy’s voice is very unique, and I know I’ve heard him a time or 2 previously. The overall product is cool. I like Motown and that early-style R&B.

Baduizm!! My best friend growing up had the middle name ‘Byron.’ We started a religion: Byronism!

I like where Erykah’s head is at, and the song got a bump for that artistry.

9 points for Johnny with Erykah Badu’s On and On

fresh little ditty

10 points for my main man smrk for Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn

I like Steve, I mean who doesn’t, but I prefer Cold Shot or whatever that really swinging track is of his. Someone said it in a previous walrus, something about blues, and I’m in agreement. You gotta come original, because of the quantity of music within this genre that employs the same fundaments lol Fundament will never die!

Stevie wrote some great songs, but unlike an Eric Johnson who took the style in an extremely unique direction, I just can’t escape having heard so many similar compositions when there isn’t more to distinguish.

11 points for pyatnitski with The Rest of the Day by Bedhead

Serious Lou Reed influence here, and I’m not mad at Bedhead for that! They certainly could’ve done more to deviate from what’s kind of a trademark, and it’s a bit repetitive late, but watevs.

I also wanted to give pyatnitski some love

12 points to rexxy! with this Roy Orbison song Only the Lonely

This guy is a goofy lookin’ bastid with shades on. I guess this performance featured the guesting of Bruce Springsteen and others. Sandra Bernhard can also be seen late in the audience, and if it ranks for Sandra, who the fuck am I? I ask you!
