Walrus IV reveal Thread. Kingvaldo Collab.

Gah. I forgot to mention. This was the Female Vocalist category, although I never actually checked to see if they were all grills, so props to anyone who cheated

Ah! Right. Carry on!

Hey alright. I feel…ok about this category. Nice to have something fun to do while we wait for WWIII to start

In 15th place, earning 3 points is @CanadaMatt3004 and The Pretty Reckless with Heaven Knows

Something tells me this would be huge with the 12-year-old American girl from the south who is pseudo-emo demographic. The whole gaggle of them screaming the anthem “Heaven Knows we belong way down below” would make fists full of the dollars. Just doesn’t make for music I would want to listen to again. Guess I’ll go below now then

If a song ever belonged on the soundtrack for an Ellen Page movie, or maybe just Juno, this is it. I loved Juno too. And I like Ellen Page. But reminding me of a stuff I like isn’t enough to crack the top 10

Do you like Sonic Youth? Snail Mail (dumb name) fit right into that wheelhouse, imo.

Rounding out the top 13, for 5 points is @Pauwl and Anna Calvi with Blackout

Actually, I can’t really goof on this. Everything, north of this point (including this tune) is pretty damn decent. The vocals on this track are excellent and there’s a sound that seems to be caught between keys that really works. Would play again.

I don’t love them, tbh but I get the comparison. Actually, that’s an excellent comparison. So if anyone likes Sonic Youth, check out cassette’s submission.

In at #12 for 6 points is @ChrisV with Slovo feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw and Whisper

Like the previous submission, here is another British band whose vocals are angelic, but this time are matched with a simple tune that just drew me in. You speak to me.

At #11 for 7 points is @Jalfrezi and PJ Harvey and Dress

Another really good song that could have easily cracked the top 10. This turns out to be her first single, and was a great choice to show off her chops. A ton of fun packed in here.

Which brings us to our top 10

Earning 8 points is @Habsfan09 with Toni Childs and Stop Your Fussin’

This takes us back to the late 80’s apparently, but was new to me. With a vocal quality unlike anyone we’ve heard to this point, and lyrics to match, we have a submission worthy to start our top 10.

why you look so sad, when the sky is perfect blue?

In at #9 for 9 points is @skydiver8 with The Pretenders and Don’t Get Me Wrong

This one goes back to the 80’s too, and while the tune may sound a bit dated, we can’t look past the chops and why they’re still making music and still performing for sold out school auditoriums.

She ain’t the founder of the Lilith Fair for nothing.

At #7 for 11 points is @seities with Rosalie Cunningham and Ride on My Bike

She wants to take me for a ride on her bike, and I want to go. Fun song with lyrics to match from another British entry.

I am not a hip-hop fan generally, but good is good, and this is really good. The internet tells me the artist is a violinist as well as a vocalist. And so it must be a violin she’s plucking at the start. No matter what it is, I need to be free and spread my wings.
