Joe Hisashi – One Summer’s Day

Review

Excellent choice going with an instrumental. I think I said in my music tastes that I don’t focus on lyrics and tend to just absorb how the song feels. Of all the entries, this was the closest to what I really wanted. God bless you.

This one started out strong but then turns kinda cheesy like a 70’s TV show then an 80’s soap opera song then Legend of Zelda-ish. This reminds me of the M83 album Junk. Good entry though.

I never realized it was a soundtrack song until just now when I found like 5 different versions of the damn thing - including the Twilight one above. And still none of them sound exactly like the one on my ipod.

LOL I lost to a song that was hated by the same person twice.

The Cure – Burn

Submitter Commentary: I can’t think of a better song that invokes a dark, rainy cityscape, rife with tension and potential crime. Obviously it’s from The Crow, but I heard this song long before I ever saw the movie and I feel like it could be used on any crime show/movie…that dark, gritty setting where a murder might happen or the character is being followed by a shadowy figure, etc.

Review
Note: I had to find an alternative video cuz the one submitted wouldn’t play in my socialist utopia country.

The is a song I know very well and have always liked. I loved The Crow soundtrack when I was growing up. Unfortunately, I’ve heard this a million times so it’s not as dramatic to me as the remaining tracks.

DAMMIT I knew it was a good choice.

I know right

That’s what I get for holding to the category

Paper Tiger – The Ritual

Submitter Comments: I’d tell you how I think this fits, but I think the important thing is whether you can close your eyes and find that for yourself :-)

Review

I usually close my eyes for euphoric moments in songs. This is a little rough for that. It’s pretty cool though. Very moody. I like that.

That’s me (and my joker). I had a few other options that were guitar-centric instrumentals which might have fared better but the way this song comes in makes me think of a soundtrack kicking in during a movie every time I hear it.

Will take a modium!

Wallows – Just Like a Movie

Review

This is good. A little too uplifting for me in parts, but it mostly works. I can picture the movie this would fit in. Coming of age type movie though. I want high drama. You just miss the podium, my friend.

This was me and my joker too. Figured this was a perfect fit for this category as it was basically designed to sound like it fit in some sort of indie coming of age or rom-com type movie.

Fun fact: Dylan Minnette (Clay Jensen in 13 reasons why) is the co-lead singer of this band.

Yeah this is easy on the ears, can totally see the fit as well.

Just to be clear though, my submission was still better and this is daylight robbery!

And now we have reached the podium. A brief pause and we will commence.

Bonne Chance!
