So I dabble into country music from time to time. It’s by no means a big part of my music knowledge, so I have alot of gaps to fill. I tend to like older stuff so:
This kinda feels like a mix of generic indie rock with generic country pop. It’s not a terrible song so no “Bless your heart” or anything. Just not really what I was looking for.
Meg Baird, Helena Espvall and Sharron Kraus - John Hardy
Review
I guess John Hardy was similar to John Henry. Countless songs about each. I’m used to the Carter Family version of John Hardy that this seems weak compared to. This reminds me of the 60’s folk vocal harmony groups.
I can’t help it. This intro to the song reminded me of Deadwood. One of my favorite shows of all time. The lyrics and music are good, but I just don’t really like the vocals. It kinda fits the stereotypical raspy voice that seems everywhere. At least in my mind.
