Released in the year I was born (1983) and probably my personal favorite pop song of all time.

I really didn’t want to pick as a winner a song I knew so well, but this really is just perfection.

I was considering as a Walrus category best 2/4 lines in pop music, and you can’t get any better than

but in the same song you have

Tho I put you on a pedestal
They put you on the pill

It’s a well deserved winner

Ok, how itchy is everyone? If pretty itchy, we could post Nicholas’s songs here anonymously and then we can run a poll and everyone ranks the songs for a true grab bag finale. If not that itchy, we can wait a while longer.

This makes me thing about the idea of a double-blind grab bag walrus, where songs are submitted anonymously and the category owner is also anonymous.

imo we reveal our B-B-B-B-BONUS CATEGORRYYYYYY now so we can see where the standings are before the final reveal (I’m assuming nobody designated Nicholas’s category as their bonus).

If the reveal would meaningfully impact the podium, then those in the running could decide whether to wait or not.

I don’t really see how having everyone rank the final cat by poll would work unfortunately. Eg, what if there are several entries with 0 votes or whatever. Or if the idea was everyone designates a ranking for each track and it gets averaged somehow, that relies on everyone having to listen to all songs and give a score, which would also take who knows how long. We may as well just list all the songs out, let everyone have a listen and add any comments, and give everyone 6 points to wrap things up.
