Stone Temple Pilots - Sour Girl
We are now into a mini -league of a songs I can only describe as white boys whining about their feelings, and sadly this is not a genre I particularly enjoy
Bottom of this table come the Stone Temple Pilots for the admittedly vacuous reason that the lead singers face really got on my nerves, and he had Buffy all over him
I’m with you on Stevie Nicks and Rumours, but Albatross is ripe for a re-evaluation imo. I just checked as it’s been a while, but it really is a lovely piece of work.
One of my favorite songs from when I was 18. Massive in Canada, but they never really got much traction in the US, or presumably the UK.
I can’t really think of very much to say about this song, it just leaves me cold so I think I will just add another judging note for @seities - avoid white boys moaning
Listening to this one again as I reveal I feel bad about lumping it with the previous two entries as it is a level up, but after a promising start the slow down spoken part in the middle just kills my interest in the song. and after that I am just waiting for it to finish.
Anyway it won the white boys moaning section so there is that
The 4th submission ina row I had never heard of before so from Wikipedia
God Street Wine (also known as GSW ) is a jam band from New York City. Their music is an amalgam of rock, jazz, bluegrass, funk, psychedelia, pop, Americana, reggae, progressive, and more.
This might be interesting…
GSW played a significant role in the development of the improvisational jam band scene of the early 1990s.
or maybe not.
Anyway this started out quite interesting, but a couple of minutes in I feel it’s said everything it needed to say and just meanders along for another 5 minutes for no real reason than for the guitarist to noodle about a bit. Not really my cup of tea
The combination of the category requirement and me still not having come close to working you out left me just throwing something different your way from what I had tried previously. Worst case I get another datapoint!
Swanky is doing the same. His next category will be “a song that includes the name of your first pet, the street you grew up on or your favorite teacher”.
This is fairly standard Cure fare, not that that is a bad thing.
It’s a solid entry for sure, but even though I’m not familiar with the track, it did sound very familiar
This entry is way ahead of the previous entries, but it’s way less interesting to me than everything that follows
