That’s some bullshit right there
Well I love Dusty so I’m glad I didn’t think of that song as I would have probably entered it.
Trembling Bells… not for me, and neither are the Misfits
Though I prefer them both to Radiohead.
I realise I am probably in a minority of one but I can’t abide Radiohead - his voice is like nails on a blackboard for me

Rage Against the Machine - Born As Ghosts
Submitter says: A lot of interesting choices, but ultimately I ran low on time and went down the middle here. I should know by now whether you like RATM by now, but I can’t remember.
Yeah, I do indeed like RATM. This for me is middle of the road by RATM standards, which is to say its good, but not quite enough to rank higher in this Walrus for mine.
Spots 7-4 were all quite difficult to separate for me. It’s almost certainly with apologies to Louis that I reveal the next song:

Burning Witches – The Circle Of Five
This is fun. Nice crunchy guitar riffs, and somewhat novel for me. Hard to think of a better category fit too. Places 6/5/4 just tickled my whiskers a bit more on this particular day.
I still know most of the words to this song. This is from the American Psycho version of the Misfits. I much prefer the old school Misfits with Danzig, but I listened to this album alot when I was younger.
eta: Not my entry
I thought I was going to like this but it went swerved into weird territory later in the song.
Are aliens considered paranormal?
I think so. See: The X Files.
Sorry I am rushing this reveal a bit - short on time so trying to compress the wait time between posts while still allowing enough time to listen to each submission (if you can bear to).

Deadmau5 - Ghosts N Stuff
Yeah, this falls nicely into the sort of EDM I like. Driving/hard beats, and catchy breaks throughout. The part that holds this down a few places lower for me is actually the chorus, which doesn’t keep me as engaged as the rest of the song. That said, this is still great stuff and likely gets added to my EDM playlist. Strong submission.

Kanye West - Monster
Submitter says: I thought the word monster is paranormal adjacent and would work. From Genius’s about section on this song: “One of the most highlighted posse cuts of 2010, Kanye, Rick Ross, JAY-Z, and Nicki Minaj boast on how they’re a “Monster” on the mic. Fittingly, the song comes with a couple of horror movie references.”
Ahhh Kanye - what a testament to how far delusions of grandeur can take a human.
This is great. I really appreciate the production that goes into something like this. So many choices to change things up at different points and its catchy most of the way through. The song kinda loses me over the last minute or so, which knocks it down a place or two for me. Quality submission though, thanks!
That was me, and so my glorious po/no streak finally ends
At least you got that part right.
Glad I could welcome you to The Pauwl Zone for the first time this Walrus. Also informative for me to know that song rings your bell. One of these days I will bask my blubbery self on your podium.
lol ty
This is pretty sick. I never give Kanye a chance.

Crystal Castle - Plague
Submitter says: Haunted house theme. Paranormal sounding. “I am the plague” makes me think of one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Seities says: Oh hai Pauwl, thanks for your submission. I remember a Crystal Castles song was submitted previously and did quite well with whoever ran the category. I quite liked the submission too and checked out more of their stuff. This is really cool, atmospheric, interesting music. I don’t really have a better way to describe it right now, it’s just something that I find engaging and I am glad to have them put on my radar again.
Yeah, he’s a fuckin idiot but he really does have some excellent songs to his name.
Hi seities.
I went through their whole catalog to try to find a “supernatural” song that I liked. Then I googled bands like Crystal Castles and found some cool stuff. I spent the most time on this category only to end up with my initial first pick.
eta: The Band/Song I posted for “what I would have entered” for my category was a group I found researching this category.
Hi Pauwl.
Trust your instincts! You came 1st place in the Pauwl zone.
