Walrus Grab Bag 3 Sign Up—GOAT Music Thing Returns

A description would be great, doesn’t have to be anything dramatic, but I have a load of vivid memories of hearing a song for the first time, where I was and how it made me feel. Hopefully I’m not (too) wierd.
An example and what gave me the idea for the category was the last Walrus

Category: Song with the best use of the word “Fuck.” I think we have all been there. A song is either really racing along or not hooking us just the right way, and then the word fuck is uttered, sung, screamed or shouted and its just perfect. Thats what Im looking for. The word elevating the song in some way.

Musical Tastes: Generally 90’s-current rock or metal, though I appreciate my share of hip hop and r&B. Country is generally against my tastes but I do appreciate the right kind of country song, and in this category Im curious how it would shake out. Similar for other more mellow types of musical styles/genres.

Pretty wide open purposefully. It should be used in some way that elevates the song to you and also I guess to me as well

Here is the first example I can remember

I was sitting on my Grandmothers floor warching this new fangled invention the colour television (lol yes I am old) when this video came on

i was transfixed and wierdly excited. I loved the song as I was growing up but it must have been another ten years till I saw the video again. at that point I realised what that wierd feeling was and why the video had stuck in my mind so much

The categories I know what I’m submitting for already, I think are gonna be super polarized. Nodium or Podium all the way! So probably nodium.

Do acoustic versions of songs work here?

I don’t see why not.

yikes, the “no covers” restriction for meb’s category, when coupled with “BANGERS,” is kind of killing me, lol.

My music tastes are pretty eclectic overall. Very few BANGERS in my submissions for other people’s categories.

What do you want in the subject line for the pm? Does it not matter and you just want the submission info in the body?

I’m not sure I totally get your category @Pauwl. You mention “the older the better”, so that means you rather get entries older than 1980s? It’s not like it’s hard to find good music from the 50s-70s.

Doesn’t really matter about the subject, I don’t get loads of PMs but why not “[name]'s Walrus Entry”. And, yeah, just the submissions in the body.

Have almost all my submissions put together @eyebooger and @Yuv categories giving me the most trouble.

That’s exactly right.

A minor note: I’m not really looking for older than the 20th century. Unless someone has an obscure composer they really really like. I don’t want to get Mozart again.

Do more people have difficulties with my category? I can expand it if needed

I thought it was a broad enough category to not be too difficult. My pick is made.

To clarify, I don’t think your category is hard, I’m just having a hard time deciding on my submission for the two I mentioned.

What about an older song that you’ve probably heard (once you get older than the 50’s or outside of certain genres, most of the stuff out there falls into “old standard” or “traditional”), but done in a totally unique way?
