I would hazard a guess that I don’t even know the watered down versions of what you consider the cream of the crop. Like I used to go out with friends more, and whenever we’d go to a place that was spinning hip hop(deep cuts, classics, current, whatever) and what I assume is a BANGER would come on, and I’d look around and it seemed like everyone knew the song and the lyrics, whereas it was all brand new to me.
If the dead prez song was the intro to Chapelle show, then I definitely have heard it, but I haven’t seen the intro to that show since it was on TV.
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, as I am always happy to be educated on music. I don’t have the knowledge to even front like I know what it is that I am talking about.

We are definitely reading the same book even if we are a few pages apart. Intro on that track is fucking sick but the bro drops kind of killed it for me.

I’m a big fan of your posts. In the end it’s always about staying true to yourself. Me and my friends are all music obsessives and we play rough.

Glorified battle rapper whose career’s success was predicated predominantly on the color of his skin. Ran out of ideas rather quickly and transitioned to shock rap and bro rap ($$$) and lets not even get into the abominations that were his productions.
He was the key for suburban kids who didn’t feel like they had access to what they instinctively understood was an amazing culture. And since most plebs can’t be bothered to dig any deeper than whatever the radio spoon feeds them he cashed in.
Not even a top 5 white rapper much less a top 5 rapper.
