I need @seities, @anon92450360, and @TheDuker to claim their picks. Or I’ll just guess and wait for corrections.
edit: Thanks for the submissions. These were fun to listen to.

Great reveal man…
Ya know, other than the terrible REM placement, which, may I emphasize again… Boooooooooooooooooooooo
I guess you didn’t see Django Unchained. It had this song. Great song.
Jim Croce is huge. Time In a Bottle was even done by the Muppets.
No, I didn’t.
Really? I would not have guessed that.
Man, I love me some Jim Croce. He’s basically got two distinct kinds of songs:
This song doesn’t really fall squarely into either category, which should have been a clue that it isn’t actually a Croce original. But still the first thing I thought of for the category.
(It was a hit when it was released but also had a re-discovery when it was included in Django Unchained.)
Nope. I’m a noob I guess.
not my scene either, but it’s a pretty well known song that was referenced in tons of stuff, which is how i know it (and i don’t know much about the dude)
It’s great when you find blind spots in your musical knowledge like this. It’s like 'holy shit, where has this been!".
A lot of the 70s is like that for me.
yep, i have ton of those especially as i didn’t grow up in the states + i was obsessed with a very limited range of genres.
i still don’t get how that dream pop thingy had almost as many views as everybody fucking hurts. i never heard that song
Croce was yours?
this was my 2nd choice (with 3rd being Yoshimi battles the pink robot from same album), but I had to squeeze DJ Shadow to some Walrus. I also never listen to anything ‘calming’
Yes sir.
Here’s some more for ya:
Oh Roy so cool, that racin’ fool
He don’t know what fear’s about
He do a hundred thirty mile an hour, smiling at the camera
With a toothpick in his mouth
Ok, I’m pretty sure R.E.M. was namath.
You’re missing some good songs. He’d be way better known if his life wasn’t ended so tragically.
I guarantee I score higher than Swanky next category.
Man, surprised you didn’t mention “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim.” So good.
That’s funny, I could think of a couple tracks from this album I might pick, but not this one. “In the Morning of the Magicians,” “It’s Summertime,” or maybe the closing track. (But I do like The Soft Bulletin better, and I’d probably pick something from that instead.)
Still trying to wrap my head around “Everybody Hurts” as “calming.” It’s sad as shit.
