Jean-Pierre Mirouze - Scene Du Port

" Rare Psych gem from 1971 OST “Le Marriage Collectif”. This whole album is magic. Not meant for release, one of the original test pressings was dug out of a Paris dump in 2010 ."

Review

A French film score. Well played. French title, IMDb says it’s in Danish. It sounds like something from a crime movie or some other kind of drama. The song is really good. Interesting. Dramatic and moody. I checked out the rest of the album but I liked this song the best. Awesome!

The Velvet Underground - I’m Set Free

"I’m taking a punt here that as you prefer indie rock and 60s/70s rock you’ll like this (and probably already know it), for my money one of the VU’s finest ballads and still recognisably them thanks to the vocals and ringing Bo Diddley guitar rhythm.

There are few bands who played in unison as well as them at their peak, rising and falling together, and this, their third album, is their most complete work imo.

I’m set free,
To find a new illusion."

I did not know this song. Very Velvet Underground sounding. I love the simple song structures. Jangly guitars. Minimal guitar solo that fits the song perfectly. Very cool. Lou Reed’s tender voice. He always sounds kind of vulnerable to me. It makes this sound like youth. That’s what I always liked about them. 2nd prize only because the next person used cheat codes or something.

Always the bridesmaid.

Hoped I couldn’t go wrong by picking one from the Godfathers Of Indie.

Sisters of Mercy – Alice

Review

My, my, that’s some good pandering. The cocky 3 smiley face write up. I got into Sisters of Mercy a few years ago and only had the extended “First and Last and Always” album. I listened to it endlessly. Recently, Suzzer entered “1959” in a Walrus and took like 2nd place. I was amazed that Sisters could rank that high. Shortly after I picked up Floodland and got back into them.

I did not know this song. Alice is from an EP of the same name that came out in 1983, which predates their debut LP. Jesus, this was a good entry. Andrew Eldritch with his brooding lyrics and strange vocal style. The dark 80’s music. I love this shit. This is first prize by a mile.

yep, I was cocky. I knew this would score high.

This is actually a song I own, and it was a regular in the rotation at the goth club I frequented in HS. Easiest Walrus entry ever, tbh.

I actually missed the posting of my song here because right after you posted 2nd place, I heard a fuck ton of sirens and a helicopter and I ran outside to see a high speed chase go right by my house. I kid you not. and I live in a development that is really far from the city (it’s even 10 minutes from the corner where protests happen in my small town), full of curvy roads and hills.

Neighbor joked that the guy was probably frantically trying to check his GPS to find a route out of the neighborhood.

So here are the final scores as I have guessed at them. Let me know if I made a mistake.

And the winner is @FuncrusherPlus with @pyatnitski and @Jalfrezi coming in close at 2nd and 3rd
