It’s indie rock. I thought you would hate it.
Loud and happy. Plus mostly my hatred comes from burning out on it. (E.g. haven’t thought of it in years, but I loved that Blonde Redhead record.)
I got my podium. Everything else is just a cherry on the cake.
Im not sure i like it, but i hate it less than i thought i would based on the first 25 seconds
But it is a curse. You only saying that to make a run at overall podium
Surely the spots are locked in ahead of time? All it does is discourage participation for the sake of a pretty tame joke.
You’re possibly correct, but speaking as a cold hearted man of science jinxes are the one superstition that is 100% true.
I followed as best I could with the thread for scoring. I’m missing a lot of people this time. Please identify your songs if you haven’t already.
They didn’t do the one that I will never get no matter how long I live in a francophone country - the supposed difference in pronunciation between dessus (above) and dessous (below). Fucking idiots.
Mine was Round And Round.
Good news everyone!
pyatnitski’s scores have just been divided in half.
That went better than I expected, honestly. (“End of the Line”)
Maybe I have hope yet.
Yeah, I knew sending this one it wouldnt score all that great. I just wanted to share it because almost certainly most people on the board havent heard it.
Orwellian dialogue samples cut and pasted together was light years ahead of its time in 1997. Hip hop has a long history of skits and interludes but nothing like this when it came out. Its also an unofficial intro to the next track “Population Control.”
Besides, I wanted to leave some scoring for everyone else. I have some stone cold ringers for this category.
Everyone’s go to political hip hop track is always “Fuck tha Police” (and not even the superior version as J Dilla’s “Fuck tha Police” is a better track and samples an old french funk track that has even has a violin in it Rene Cosy “Scrabble”)
The undisputed, greatest political hip hop track ever is also from Company Flow, “Patriotism.” Listen to it, break it down lyrically and tell me Im wrong. EL-P rapping as if he is America YESSIRRRRRRRRR.
The next category is my favorite. There were a bunch of very creative and clever selections made.
I didn’t know the track you submitted even tho I’m a big RTJ fan. It’s raw in both a good and a bad way, but I enjoyed it and I will dig into Company Flow a bit. Thanks for sharing.
Cool cool cool. So far, I haven’t looked at a new category the same day I did a reveal. I’m excited for this next one though. Might take a peak later.
yeah I’ve taught myself some Neil Young (I’m just a rhythm player, nothing fancy). Mostly off After the Gold Rush.
You have an odd taste in music Pauwl.
Nothing wrong with that. Just odd.
Pretty optimistic for my pick in the next round. Did better this round than expected.
How did you do this round?
I don’t know which song was yours.
“They Say” by Scars on Broadway
Figured it’d be last since I know moden hard rock isn’t your bag but it’s the song that best reflects my views.
