From a single set of ballots, we’ll publish two sets of results. The first will include The Sopranos. The second will be strictly shows that premiered in the 21st century, removing The Sopranos from ballots and adjusting everything below it on those ballots up one position.
Submission Format:
An unnumbered list of your top 20 TV shows of the 21st century. If you include The Sopranos in your list you can add a 21st show, in which case for the second tally, The Sopranos will be removed and everything below it on your list will be bumped up one position.
Starting with the top show, submit your list of 20 (or 21) shows with each show on its own line. The order of your list is the ranking. The first show on your list will get 20 points; the last show will get 1:
Yellowstone
Yellowjackets
Better Call Saul
iCarly
Hannah Montana
Etc.
Pro Tip: Naming the show exactly as it appears in the list in the next post will prevent duplicate entries such as US Office, The Office (US), The Office (U.S.), The Office (U. S.), etc. that will mess with the final tallies. My spreadsheet recognizes The Office and Office as the same, but can’t account for all of the different ways the same show could be named.
Use this link to PM your list to @TVShows by Monday October 5th, 8pm Eastern Time.
Below is a list of shows that appeared on The New York Times list, and that have been nominated by UPers. You may select any 21st century show for your list, whether it appears here or not. This list is just to remind you of shows you might wish to consider.

You can choose how to interpret best show however you see fit. If you submit True Detective Season One instead of just True Detective, it is less likely other submissions will match yours so it will not score very high overall.
Deciding whether to vote based on a show’s peak versus it’s overall strength is a decision that should be left to each individual to choose for themselves.
You can submit as few or as many shows as you’d like. I’m pretty sure it won’t break the spreadsheet either way. With too few shows you’re just leaving unclaimed points on the table; with too many shows the extras will just get ignored
Tagging @Devil in case he has two shows he wants to submit
I’m just taking your list and putting it in a spreadsheet without looking at it, so whatever you have on it as your best shows will make the final list
I asked the new Opus model to make a top 20 foe me and this is what it came up with:
The Wire
Twin Peaks: The Return
Deadwood
On Cinema at the Cinema
The Rehearsal
The Chair Company
I Think You Should Leave
Chernobyl
Show Me a Hero
True Detective Season 1
The Office (U.K.)
Atlanta
The Deuce
Better Call Saul
Hannibal
Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
The Night Of
Joe Pera Talks with You
Fargo Season 2
Pretty good! Thinking of submitting as is but I really didn’t think that much of The Night Of.
