I’m sure this plays a part, but the official story is that they’re working on Starfield. Bethesda usually has one game that they’re actively developing and another that they’re doing sort of design/concept art/etc. Right now Starfield is the active project and ES6 is in the design stage. They’re also completely rebuilding their game engine, which will be featured in both new games. I would guess we’re looking at 2022 and 2024 for Starfield/Elder Scrolls, respectively, but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised and have them earlier.
I actually just finished downloading a 100+gb Skyrim overhaul mod that I’m going to get into over the weekend. I love Skyrim but man I’ve played it a lot, hoping this injects some fresh blood.
I was afraid that might happen. I stopped playing three years or so ago and even then it looked like the wheels might come off. It’s a shame because it had a lot of promise.
Interesting that I’m at a point in my life where I’m probably happier enjoying these things vicariously through people who are going to get more use and joy out of it than I would. That said if I knew I was going to be out sick all week (non-Covid most likely) maybe I would’ve splurged on one. I have to look into the backwards compatibility more since I still have a bunch of unplayed PS4 games.
Pretty sure optimal gaming strategy is to mostly play PC and skip every other console generation and then play the last one’s best exclusives on the new hardware but here I am with no PS4 or PS5 or girlfriend.
You motha fucka. My girlfriend is at least trying to help me snag one today. She had it in her cart and it crashed at check out when she put the payment info. Fucking bots man.
Sounds like they’re fully backwards compatible outside a few select games and some games not working properly: PS5 Backwards Compatibility: Can You Play PS4 Games on PlayStation 5? | Push Square. Gonna have to buy the disk version I guess. I’ve bought all my previous consoles on BF and while there won’t be any deals this year maybe I’ll consider a trade in next year.
