I’ve never played WOW past trial or any FF game. Am I a loser? I mean, for those reasons alone. Let’s not get into other shit.
Neither have I. I collected video games and consoles pre-COVID, though, and happen to have a FF game for PS2, so maybe I’ll try it out.
I’m just not into RPGs. Action RPGs like Fallout and Borderlands are fun, but I hate inventory management. Just let me collect everything and still move at a normal speed.
This is the first time I’ve seen anyone ask if NOT playing WOW makes them a loser
Can’t imagine picking up WOW right now. Classic WOW is pretty fun and worth checking out if you’ve never played the genre before.
FF seems terrible for the last 10+ years right? I really enjoyed 7 & 8 when they were new and 9 and 10 were OK but after that went to hell right?
While I enjoyed the FFVII remake quite a lot, I can see where the frustration of the last 5 FF games (that I havent played) with regards to being halfway simulators comes from. It’s very odd essentially having just one path to get everywhere and anywhere. I found myself singing the “Follow the only road” song from South Park quite often during my playthrough
The ff7 reboot was ok. I don’t like how it barely got through 1/4th of the story (if that). So it felt incomplete to me.
I felt the combat was either a little too easy or grossly unfair at times, but I appreciated that I didn’t just bulldoze over everything later in the game like is typical for most ff games.
Final fantasy tactics was the last great one. An updated version of that game would be awesome.
Yeah, the Sephiroph fight and the giant time monster that split into three forms were genuinely tough
There’s a Steam Halloween sale that runs through 10 AM est tomorrow, lots of deep discounts on horror themed games if that’s your bag. I grabbed Dracula Origin which is old but I’ve never played before for $1.49
Lots of new games on game pass recently. Downloaded Celeste and Eastshade this afternoon and will maybe get in a little play later today if I can tear myself away from the vote counting shenanigans - I’ve heard good things about Celeste
Ooooooo did Celest drop today?
Most people who would care have likely already played it but I got Xenoblade Chronicles Remastered for the Switch and it’s really good. RPGs used to be far and away my favorite type of game but I’ve unfortunately lost my taste for slow-moving games with complex systems as I’ve gotten older and have less dedicated gaming time. I gambled $40 that playing them on the Switch would make them more tolerable because handheld mode is sort of akin to holding and reading a book, which I can do for hours without complaint, and sure enough it’s been fine. Probably helps that the game has a great story and good combat and not much busy work.
Is there a new Celeste? I mean, the original has been out for a while.
On gamepass. I havent played it on console yet so I’m looking forward to getting to without paying for it again
I’ve been playing Watch Dogs: Legion. It’s getting ridiculous. I just hack drones with machine guns and fly them into areas and kill everyone without even being on the premises. Fun though.
Call of Duty games are fundamentally stupid and their politics are garbage and no one should play them but nonetheless I’m still hyped af for Black Ops Cold War. Always thought the original Black Ops was a wild ride and the Oliver Stone-esque backdrop was right in my wheelhouse.
I’m super on tilt by the fact that Gen-Z will learn about Reagan through a videogame where he’s portrayed as a badass and his CIA death squads are the heroes.
Celeste is so good. Just the perfect amount of difficulty to make you want to throw the controller against a wall multiple times during a stage but want to pick it up and keep chipping away at progress.
The final level (I think it was added a few months ago) was so ridiculous, hard, and fun. I think I had like 1800 deaths in that one alone.
Yeah Celeste is so fucking good. An absolute beast when it comes to platforming difficulty, but it ramps it up perfectly.
I ended up beating the main game but never really going through the B-sides or extra levels after that. That got to be a little too much challenge for me. I have been playing a lot of Hollow Knight lately with the randomizer (I just love how well-balanced and designed the game is, and I wanted a new challenge in it), and the mix of exploration / combat / platforming there is more my speed.
