A good way to think about it is that Star Citizen is everything wrong with EA.

What’s right about EA?

From my steam account (so kind of alhpabetical):
The Age of Decadence
Antihero
Battle Brothers
Dead Age
Don’t Starve
FTL (as I recall)
Hades
Heat Signature
Into the Breach (as I recall, I bought it after release)
Kenshi
The Long Dark
Mount and Blade
Mount and Blade 2
Offworld Trading Company
Project Zomboid
PUBG
Rimworld
Rust
Slay the Spire
Star Traders Frontier
Streets of Rogue
They are Billions
Terraria (as I recall?)

I’m bored of making the point but you get it. EA working as intended is generally a studio with <5 people selling their half finished but very much playable game to the public. It usually costs 20 bucks or less. It’s usually a fantastic deal at that price on release.

A game that isn’t already a viable release (but you aren’t done with it yet) shouldn’t be in EA IMO.

Yea i played PUBG in EA and it was playable and enjoyable when it came out and probably worth that money even if it never updated afterwards, lol at paying full price like $60 for EA though, it should be discounted for what product you are buying at that time.

Counterpoint: Millions of Kerbals are currently stranded on the Mun because of EA rocketry.

on one hand, agree that paying $60 for BG3 in EA is bonkers

on the other hand, its BG3, and its made by Larian

In fact, today is the 5-year anniversary of it going Early Access.

A long RPG that you [presumably] play through once seems like an awful choice for an EA game while a highly anticipated sequel to a beloved franchise is like the perfect Kickstarter bait, which is all the more surprising that Larian didn’t go that route since they had massive success with the last two Divinity games.

Early access is great. Other people take on all the risk of an unfinished game the devs get paid early and I get to wishlist it and wait until I get the email telling me its gone to 1.0 (I’d say about 60-70% of my wishlisted games have never gone to 1.0 so money saved there.)

I recently finished Styx: Shards of Darkness for PS4. I found it on a list of stealth games and had never heard of it. I was a little hesitant due to the fantasy nature of it. I normally play Hitman, Dishonored, and Thief type games. This way exceeded my expectations. Such a good stealth game. You can complete all missions with 0 alerts and 0 kills (other than a few objective targets). Sneaking around without leaving a trace. I love pure stealth games like this. The environments are big enough that you can take multiple different routes to achieve your goals. I was really glad I got this. I’ve been craving a proper stealth game for a while.

Titanfall 2 $10 on sale on steam, supposed to be a great game. lol 60 gb downloads :expressionless:

I have xbox game pass and I am going to be killing some time the next week.

Any suggestions for a good game you can kind of get lost in? I like games like RDR2, Assassins creed, and even games like civilization.

I know it’s tough to recommend games to someone you don’t know but any recommendations would be appreciated. I’ll watch the trailer and if I like it dive in.

On gamepass my most played entries so far are Crosscode and Wasteland 3. Both highly recommended.

Also Doom, if you are into fps

Hollow Knight and Dead Cells are both in the same vein as Hades. The Long Dark is a survival game you can get lost in, but it’s not for everyone. As mentioned earlier, Wasteland 3 is very good but not as polished as something like RDR2.

Drake Hollow was added to game pass this week and looks interesting, but I haven’t played it.

I’m gonna be downloading Ikenfell which was just released today and looks like a lot of fun. Hopefully it’s good.

Playing Night in the Woods as well right now, which isnt heavy on gameplay but is pretty great if you like stories about aimless millenials returning from college to podunk dying towns. It’s pretty spectacular, and the bass mini game is a lot of fun.

I got Rage 2 for $8 and having a blast with it. It’s like buggy and not that well made honestly but the gunplay is excellent and there are tons of things to collect and upgrade, which is my jam.

I’ve been pretty obsessed with Hollow Knight since I got it. Put it down for a while but I’ve making another run at it recently. Really outstanding design in a Metroidvania / platformer type game.
