As it should

mmo players are mostly the most entitled, whiny people on the internet.

No one makes those anymore because all the people that played them have grown and had kids and jobs and families and they canā€™t spend 12 hours in game hunting things and then the other 12 ā€œon callā€ from their guild in order to wake up at 2 am to go fight that boss that only spawns once in a blue moon.

Yes, I have done this

Well, it should have. The upside was you became a literal god capable of fighting 40+ normal players at once. You could run faster than a speeder bike and heal yourself to full using only like 2% of your force bar. You were unstoppable.

The downside was, the entire server was trying to kill you at all times and you experienced significant xp loss every time you died. It was really a harrowing experience early on. There was extra extra trying to kill me, because you can imagine what an obnoxious fuckwad i was at 14.

Also, if they do make it this way and people no-life it and get as powerful as jmakinā€™s jedi knight really fast, the other players whine for nerfs or easy mode gear acquisition or whatever. If itā€™s too easy the hard core gamers donā€™t play. Itā€™s tough developing I bet.

Yeah, balancing is nearly impossible, and itā€™s one of the reasons I really like FF14 and other games in which the PVP is basically separate from the rest of the game. You still use your character, but the abilities all work differently and they are not based on gear.

For PVE, most games have added difficulty levels on their end game content now, which helps a bit with the casual/hard core gap, but itā€™s still a tightrope.

They eventually ā€œbalancedā€ jedi by making it a starting class and toning down the power level to that of any other class.

Effectively destroying thousands of hours overnight. And they didnt even give an announcement, they just did it.

Fuck SOE. I forget what crapass company they are called now. Iā€™m still traumatized.

I was the main tank for the first guild to ever kill Nefarian world wide so Iā€™m automatically cooler than all of you.

Wow really? I actually remember when that happened. That was a big kill. Now, itā€™s beyond trivial.

anyone interested in playing Among Us as a UP group? Its kind of like a video game werewolf/mafia. If 10 person game, there are 2 impostors who sabotage shit and kill people while the other 8 have to try and complete tasks and vote out the impostors. Iā€™ve played it recently with friends and its quite fun. It requires everyone to be in voice comms to be fun though IMO.

its also only $5 on steam and learning curve is low IMO even if you dont play video games much.

Sounds fun but voice is hard for me, is there any way to get it to work just chatting like in Throne or Lies?

Yea it has built in Text chat so thatā€™s fine

yeah, im down

I havenā€™t played video games seriously for years, but the WoW nostalgia still hits hard. This story legitimately doesnā€™t sound real, but at one point I got pretty deep into PvP and was decent enough that one of the Qatari princes paid me to play his character for titles. I think there were two of them that were basically treating WoW like a soccer developmental program, paying out thousands of dollars for top players to hit rank 1 on a bunch of their characters.

Dang that sucks, unfortunate

Watched a little bit of some twitch stream of dude running it. Looks like a fun game to play with people you know, but also couldnt figure out why he had 32k people watching him. Dude wasnā€™t entertaining, yeah Iā€™m too old for twitch.
