Video Games

Played an hour or so. Never played any of the previous games. So far it seems pretty cool, although the mechanics are a little clunky imo. XCOM does a much better job of this type of combat, but this has a seemingly deep RPG and loot collecting element that xcom lacks so its forgivable.

Xbox or pc?

New World Preview is beter than I expected. The combat is similar to Dark Souls but a bit clunky atm. They have 8 months before betas and release to tighten things up though. Iā€™m having a lot of fun so far. Watched a fort fight earlier on Twitch and looked fun af.

PC

my favorite RE game, iā€™ve played through it at least 5 times and got obsessed with the mercenary game mode for a bit

About an hour into crosscode, legit never played this genre really but enjoying it so far, just got to the mainland. As far as skill tree goes is there any good way to go or all paths are viable? Thanks to whoever recommended it here, will see if it keeps my interest.

It depends what is the best way you like to play. I really like playing melee style and am not great at distance so I tend to stick to the melee and guard arts with the occasional dash art thrown in and shy away from the throw arts.

Also? Whoever mentioned it? Are you and Veridian in cahoots here?

RE4 is an all time classic. Someone I know from another game community has beaten it like 20 times and speed runs it (not professionally just for his own enjoyment).

Defect is by far the best and most fun imo

Iā€™ve been meaning to play it for like a decade, might finally do it this month. Past few months Iā€™ve been working FT and doing like 30 hours a week on stars for stupid bonus offers.

Iā€™ve been so obsessed with wasteland 3 Iā€™m starting to lose a sense of real time in favor of turn-based action points. I was late for breakfast

I just had a glitch about 8 hours in that kind of ruined the playthrough, so starting over. Fighting someone, they tried to surrender when they got to low health, but the game then immediately put us back into combat. From googling it looks like it was because he was burning when he tried to surrender, so it triggered damage and put us right back into the fight. But it ended up making me have to murder a bunch of people that I would have liked to spare, and thatā€™s just not the kind of Ranger crew Iā€™m trying to be.

i keep getting a glitch fighting these guys in union square. like totally freezes and iā€™ve gone back multiple times. hope it wonā€™t cost my savegames because iā€™m loving this game, itā€™s 5/5 juul pods from me bros

You really want to cycle through your orbs quickly imo. The 2 passive block from frost is worthless, but getting 5 block from a exhausting a few frosts while you summon other orbs is helpful. My successful decks have focused on the power that makes your shock orbs affect all enemies, relics that increase energy, focus cards, and cards that give orbs and/or draw cards. Basically summon like 4-5 orbs per turn.

Yeah chain lightning plus some of the other lightning powers is busted. I suspect Defect relies on its rare cards more than the other classes but I could be wrong.

There are two main ways to build a defect defect:

  1. as you mentioned cycle through your orbs as quick as possible. This is often done with a lightning deck as there are lots of cards that give you tons of lightning orbs (the ones that channel lightning every time you play a power or get hit can be very nice). For this type of deck youā€™ll also want to use consume as no need for all orb slots. The power that has your lightning hit all enemies is also great for this (or any lightning deck). You can also add the card that deals damage for every lightning channeled for big damage.

  2. Get lots of orbs and buff them by increasing focus. If you have full orb slots with good focus, you can be close to indestructible. The weakness of this deck is it takes a while to get all your orbs up and running.

There are also plenty of other builds you can do. My personal favorite is a Dark deck, but that one is very tricky as you have to wait for your dark orb to get enough power to be worth using. However, itā€™s a great feeling when you get to use a buffed dark orb and the card that lets you evoke it x number of times.

The simplest deck to play is a Claw deck - youā€™ll want lots of claw and card draw to cycle through the claws. It can be the hardest to build though as sometimes youā€™ll only get one claw the entire run. This deck can be super powerful as there are quite a few cards that allow you to cycle through claws quickly - All for One, Hologram, Scrape, Seek, Rebound. If built right, there are turns where youā€™ll play 10+ claws.

My last defect run I had creative AI, echo form, and the relic that gives +2 HP when you play a power cards. Was super fun just cycling tons of power cards each turn and I managed to beat the elite boss but then died to that level 3 enemy that loses strength when you hit it because I couldnā€™t consistently do enough damage before it attacked.

multiple storms and biased cogs and defrags make defect runs a breeze when you hit right.

Storm+ is a must, heatsinks/mummified hand combo is an auto gg with power card spam
