The order of my backlog play list changes, obviously. But I am a hyperfocuser (thanks ADHD) so I have to play the shit out of a game before moving to the next one, so I will always have a backlog. I’ve accepted it as a part of my gaming personality
I think this is fair I just feel like mathing was more important in STS than in MT. Of course I’m not going to play this game at an “expert” level I’ll just get to level 5 or whatever and move on. Still haven’t unlocked 5th set of cards even.
In other gaming news, when I fired up my PC today, my Logitech headphones finally gave up the ghost. The sound quality on them was great, but the cord insulation started to separate from the wires about a year ago, and it was completely gone in some places. I had patched with electrical tape, but they must have finally frayed too much.
Had to go back to my old generic set that I replaced when I built my current PC. They work fine, but they aren’t as comfortable and the sound quality is noticeably worse.
Honestly, I’m probably going to need to build a new PC soon…Would have done it over early quarantine but parts were stupidly expensive (China lol). Guess I’ll give it another look now.
I just played through Hollow Knight a second time and I really dig it, that’s one of the best games I’ve played of any sort the last few years-- great world, gameplay, and mechanics; rich story; excellent, perfect controls; outstanding graphic / art / sound design. Axiom Verge is also great if you love the Metroid series, very much feels like a homage to those but with its own unique gameplay mechanics and a cool story. Celeste was a pretty good one if you like puzzle-solving precision platformers.
Hollow Knight is awesome, when are we getting Silksong??!! That’s like my no.1 most anticipated game, mostly because it was announced to release on Switch which is where I’ve been doing most of my gaming. Also excited for Rogue Legacy 2 but that’s releasing in Early Access in August on Steam.
Haha yeah I thought we’d be getting Silksong this year but now I don’t know. Hollow Knight was fun to play through a second time; all the little clues to the story buried throughout the game make more sense now.
I’d already previously run up a bunch of time on it, cleared it at 112%, gotten through nearly all of Godhome, then put it down for a while. I just beat it last night but only at 90% and with the most basic ending, so I’m gonna try to clear all the other stuff.
Just jumping in to say if you play on PC and don’t have game pass, you should get it. $1 for the first month, 5 bucks a month after that, and a lot of quality titles. I got slay the spire and no mans sky over the weekend, along with FTL which I haven’t even busted out yet.
I was kind of put off by the negative reviews of No Man’s Sky, but honestly it’s tons of fun and exactly the kind of game I’m looking for during coronavirus lockdown. No stress, very few enemies, lots of flying around harvesting cool shit and crafting upgrades to my equipment.
hmm, I guess it depends what you mean by “right at the end”? You can beat the game, I think, without actually getting into some of the more hardcore stuff, unless you really want to go for full completion or the better endings. Which sections of the game are you talking about?
From what I remember to get 100%/fight “the radiance” you have to go through that incredibly jumpy section in the clouds which is pretty much completely unlike the rest of the game.
Yeah, White Palace is probably the big section that’s really full-on platformer timing. But it’s not necessary to beat the basic game, just the 100% / Radiance stuff. Also, if you get Hiveblood, it becomes a lot easier because you can wait for your health to replenish every time you make a mistake.
I think NMS was poorly reviewed upon release but apparently it’s been updated to the point where a lot of people seem to think it matches the initial hype.
Hey guys, Ghost of Tsushima might be god of war level good.
I’m serious. I’m halfway through the story - unless they expect me to do 40 hours more of the exact same shit I’ve been doing, which I doubt, it’s gonna be a close one for me in terms of comparing it to god of war.
Combat is fun and rewarding and not unfairly difficult on hard mode.
Lots of shit to do - almost too much.
Story is great and interesting.
Historical setting and the art are just insanely intricate and I can tell they spent a lot of time getting it right.
Leveling system continues letting you feel more and more powerful - not sure if this will plateau or not. You slowly unlock more techniques through a combination of old fashioned leveling (though it’s called “reputation” or fame or something in this game), and some legendary techniques come with their own (difficult but not overly so) quest lines.
There are resources but only a few different types, so crafting isn’t annoying and resources are scarce enough that it feels rewarding collecting them.
I’ve only been able to play a little of Ghost of Tsushima, but the visuals and voice acting are outstanding so far. It’s compelled me to throw a bunch of Kurosawa films in my DVD que, any kind of samurai shit is definitely my jam.
