I misremembered how long it takes to level in classic. Will be ready for the wrath release lol.

I was on Bigglesworth with @anon3530961 and he way out leveled me but helped me out a few times. Doing Faerlina this run because its eastcoast and mostly wanting to Arena. Boosted a Druid. Kinda ambivalent at this point about the boost but really hope that Blizzard does something about botting. Have been pretty chill throughout prepatch and mostly working on my leatherworking. There is a pretty good spot in Uldaman to farm leathers that can hit the instance cap in maybe 30 minutes after several runs. /wowblog

On a replay of Dark Souls 3, beating the Abyss Watchers is always such a rush.

The problem with games like Cultist Simulator is when the only real challenge of the game is uncovering combinations by experimenting then it makes it too tempting to Google and cheat. The Lovecraftian is interesting though

get your sweatbands ready, boys and girls and nonbinaries, the portal opens at 6pm EST!

I am going to try to stay logged in all day so I don’t get whacked with a 4 hour queue time.

Finally got around to playing Resident Evil 7. It feels a little different than a normal RE game (duh 1st person) but I’m really digging it as a horror game, very creepy atmosphere and the 1st person view makes exploring more immersive because you can’t move the camera to look behind or check corners. I don’t like the movement and the combat is clunky but that is nothing new for RE.

I finished it a couple weeks ago and I loved it even though it scared the shit out of me. It took me like 3 years of trying to get past the first part to finally push through and beat it.

WoW TBC release went a lot smoother than I thought it would. There were server crashes and disconnects that they blamed on a DDoS attack (who knows if there actually was one) but after about 5pm my time it settled down and you could play without much interruption, which was perfect because that’s when I got off work.

Quests were surprisingly playable on my layer (I think i was like layer 8/12 or something) and I got halfway to 61 before I made the bad decision to do Hellfire Ramparts with a guildie and some randoms. Tanks, as always, were in extremely short supply so we went with a level 58 warrior in literally 100% communal gear, looked fresh off the boat. Not only was he terrible, he didn’t speak english well and would only communicate to blame me for deaths (even in pulls where I didn’t attack a single time). He wouldn’t pull with his bow, he had no idea what his rotation was, and at the end I think he was just trolling so I had my pet bat, NoobSlayer, tank the final boss entirely by himself, which was pretty fucking hilarious actually. I just turned growl on and he was generating enough threat to hold aggro, and he didn’t die, despite barely getting healed other than by my mend pet.

I highly recommend people checking this out especially if they played original TBC. This is really taking me back, and I had forgotten what a great expansion this was. What’s cool this time around is we likely won’t be getting lich king barely over a year later so who knows what the possibilities are. Last time lich king came out pretty quickly after tbc so it never fully matured IMO. This and lich king were incredibly fun for me back in the day.

The smart thing for me to do right now would probably be to grind my herbalism to max and forget leveling, make that early profession gold, but I’m just focused on having fun while also getting a little sweaty.

you’re the sweatiest on this board then I think! did you go straight to zangarmarsh or did you go 100% hellfire?

I’m on faerlina which I think is one of the largest servers in the game so the early quests took way longer than they should have, despite the high spawn rate, but I got fairly good gear from them and replaced all of my communal (except the rings and 1 trinket) so I’m feeling pretty geared right now for a 60. My pet has 5200 health and can tank pretty much anything.

I shouldn’t have listened to the podcast recommendations and tried to dungeon. That only works if you have a competent/geared group. It’s ~50k xp for a ramparts run and you can finish in less than 10 mins if you’re good, but ours took like 2 hours. Not efficient.

I’m definitely gonna get pretty raidy and sweaty if I can. I’m single and don’t have a ton going on, I can afford to raid 3 nights a week and probably pvp at least 1.

This game sounded really cool and I bought it on release but I never got into it. I was expecting card based gameplay but it’s more of timer management than anything else iirc.

Atmosphere was great but yeah everything else about it was too tedious for me. I’m crotchety with my gaming and if a game doesn’t feel good to play relatively early on I lose interest quickly.

Griftlands from Klei, which I’ve been watching for a while, came out of early access yesterday. It’s a deckbuilder like STS but my understanding is that it’s different enough that it doesn’t feel like a straight clone. Going to see how the Switch version looks but will probably pick it up in some form soon.

Frostpunk is the free Epic game this week.

I finally tried Darkest Dungeon this week - I know people either here or on 2+2 have talked about it. It’s not really my thing and I don’t love having to keep track of every stat and skill, but I will say, it’s pretty addicting. I’ve started over a few times and moved to the easiest difficulty because I had no idea what I was doing, but I’m getting the hang of it and am in pretty good shape somewhere around Week 20.

Cool art style and excellent sound.

Loved this game, but the final dungeon is so ridiculous that I gave up.

I replayed Sekiro for the millionth time and did new game plus enough to complete all trophies and get to 100%. Now I’m bored. I’ve considered Bloodborne but it looks stupid hard with no parrying (other than shooting a gun to interrupt enemies apparently). Are any of the Souls games worth playing if I’ve only played Sekiro from From Software?

I’m normally more of a stealth gamer.

eta: PS5 still unavailable where I live.
