On the US side it’s worth pointing out that any future takes along the lines of the military being a ‘calming’ or ‘realistic’ influence on Trump and other US politicians are nonsense. They’ve always been that way, but it’s certainly something I’ve seen - not here, but in the worthless commentariat - that brakes and correction can be applied at that level.
I think there are operational limits, they literally can’t send a ground force to Iran any time soon. But the US military is a bunch of yes men, who rise ranks precisely because they carry out dumb plans, and who will do what they’re told by whoever is their commander. Later on they’ll blame intelligence failures and the fog of war for it all being so damn confusing, and that they’re looking at a horrible mess.

I for one would love every global Trump property to become a ghost town, but as we keep hearing it is all very complicated for Iran so I expect a surprise or two from them at this point.
I doubt they lash out indiscriminately. That being said attacking trump properties would be discriminating.

This one’s easy, they also killed the head of the Iranian backed Iraqi PMUs in the attack. The very group that supposedly recently attacked US forces in Iraq. The post 9/11 authorisation allows military action against Iran if it is defensive in nature, or so the lawyers claim. What else was this Iranian joker up to if he was meeting that guy? So QED peaceniks.

Turns out the Eric trump tweet was about the embassy warfighters showing up. Daniel Dale cleared it up. I had originally posted the same information but then saw it got deleted and saw the follow up and deleted it from here.
So I’ve been talking to my brother who sees this whole thing somewhat differently. He thinks the right call for Iran is to go HAM here. The way he sees it the US has just given them a blank check to do basically anything without any international repercussions from anyone but the US, and they won’t probably ever get another opportunity like this.
I’m starting to think he’s right. Even countries with active proxy wars with Iran are pissed at us right now. The Europeans are beyond pissed. This is actually an enormous opportunity for a lot of people who don’t like us running the world to gang up on us.
