I don’t even get the point of lying about this. There really are former US soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Whether or not they are mercenaries is a distinction without a difference. If the war goes on much longer some of them will likely be killed. And the general public in the US has already shown they don’t really care when those people die in foreign wars.

I’m sure there’s plenty of American Idiot Volunteers and I hope there’s not American special forces fighting over there. But when I read about American special forces veterans who were in country before the invasion started and are “volunteers”? Well, I assume they’re CIA or some sort of equivalent.
Even money whether he was paid by Russia for this or if he was stupid enough to do it for free.
A troubling detail is this guy was actually in the infantry. Maybe he was screwed up by that experience. I’d still go with stupid, though.

Every once in a while when I’m feeling down I remember that the last 60 seconds or so of Muammar Qaddafi’s life were spent with a bayonet up his ass and I feel a bit better.
I hope that fate crosses Putin’s mind every once in a while and it does not make him feel better.

Putin watched the video over and over again. He’s paranoid and afraid of the same thing happening to him. He can’t lose power because he doesn’t trust a successor not to come after him. It probably eats at him every minute. It’s very much a part of what drives him.
yeah but that’s why we got freedom, and if you got the kick, there’s not many opportunities for that sort of fight these days.
I could make an infinite list of things dumber than someone with something to contribute going to Ukraine and figiting for a worthy cause.
