I think that the amount of online/ social media news coming through so fast should all be taken cautiously. Almost none of these numbers are confirmed by anyone. This invasion just started and we are so used to instant results or constantly searching hoping for instant gratification. The United States has said Kyiv is going to fall within “days.”

Well I listened to the live cam for most of the night and I can tell you there wasn’t much shooting around Kyiv until maybe 3am local time, then it was pretty intense until about 5:30, then it quieted down as the sun came up. So we know that much happened. Pictures and other video I’ve seen come out has confirmed the same kind of skirmishes around the city.
with all due respect to mi6 and cia intelligence, no chance. RU make take control of some of kyiv, but the fight will take more than days. it’s a modern city, spread put. i just looked it’s about the size of kabul or bagdad. every pair of residential high rises creates a mini valley to isolate and engage occupiers.

So this plan of the Ukrainians just giving up when the Russians arrive didn’t work doesn’t Putin have plan b of just launch missiles and bomb everything with jets? Then send in the mass majority of his troops? I’d like to believe but I just don’t see how Ukraine can defeat that alone.
It was before the actual invasion but my Libertarian cousin unironically posted to FB that "We should be paying more attention to what’s happening in Canada than Ukraine.
Well so far he’s made a big deal about how he’s not bombing civilians. Also he doesn’t have free air reign over Kyiv yet. They still have functional anti-aircraft that he can’t get to and the Ghost of Kiev may be flying around somewhere. So he’s reduced to missiles at the moment.
If they put him in a position where he’ll have to destroy the city and kill 100,000 people in the process, that may be a bridge too far. His whole thesis is that Ukrainians have lost their way and need to be brought back to be loved by mother Russia. Committing atrocities kind of defeats that purpose, and also will be more likely to bring in more and more international support.
