Ukraine, Russia, and the West

That’s American confirmation of the two transport planes being shot down!

If I were going to use a sub to attack Russia, I’d blow up Nord Stream 1 (not 2) before I’d launch nukes.

watching a maniac use a tactical nuclear weapon wasn’t ever an option either

That evacuation story is damn near perfect propaganda regardless of if it’s true

I’m guessing Belarus didn’t calculate they’d be completely alone in this.

To put Ukraine shooting down two IL-76’s into perspective, Wikipedia said Russia has six total. So now four, if that’s accurate. I assume it’s not perfectly accurate, but it’s probably not like they have 100 of them either. Seems like a big deal.

I’m thinking Putin saw that part going differently in his head.

??

I just looked up on Wikipedia and it says they made almost 1,000 of them and over 100 are still in service in the Russian Air Force alone.

Maybe Putin was caught up in the very same right wing nut job echo chamber he created and thought he’d have way more support and that western countries would be way more divided.

Where’d you see that? I looked here:

Western countries still haven’t really done anything. If anything has gone awry (which seems certain at this point) it is Ukraine fighting back.

At this point I imagine Putin assumed Ze would be in exile in the US or captured/dead, a puppet government being put in place in Kiev, and preparations to annex parts of Eastern Ukraine with minimal actual fighting.

I heard this on the live stream (this is not the smooth jazz, but a song that kept playing in the background). Also actually apparently this is Sumy, not Kyiv.

That was going around last night, but it was supposedly in Sumy, which I think is in Northeastern Ukraine near the border.

That chart seems to only be manufacture since 2010. They were mostly made in the 1970s according to Wikipedia.

Holy fucking shit. Everyone needs to watch that. You can see and hear the real fear, and the resolve, in their faces and voices.

I don’t think this is normal. If they’re really arming a huge % of able-bodied civilians in a city of 3M, and the civilians are really ready to fight, the battle for Kyiv could be a lot more than Putin expected.
