I can’t believe Putin didn’t gin up more support for this at home, with some false flag terrorist attacks or something. GWB spent two full years whipping the American public into a frenzy about Iraq.
The only legitimate reason to invade a country is if they’re an imminent threat to the safety of your civilians. Maybe it’s not legal by international law - but really - what are you going to do if a country keeps launching terrorist attacks from its borders on your own soil?
So for Iraq they literally falsified information that we were all in danger. Putin’s not even trying that. He’s just saying he wants to de-nazify the country. I guess he couldn’t come up with even a plausible threat to anything but his separatist regions.
