So the news is that Kherson is under RU control, with nikolayev next likely target. Sumy has been retaken by UA.

Im so relieved the US and Russia both built like 100x the number of nukes necessary to end humanity, just fantastic to have all of those weapons out there.

Putin seems legit insane and things might get even worse if he loses here.

it’s twilight struggle. the player who uses nukes first loses.

are they though? seems like russian state propaganda is fanning the fear of sanctions already.

PM Mishustin calculated that buckwheat inventory will last at least 70 days, and delegated authority to control food prices.

The chess world is also getting upended, since the world chess federation (FIDE) has a Russian president and receives a lot of endorsement money from Russian companies like Gazpro.

In addition, the Olympiad team tournament is scheduled for Moscow this summer.

Finally, the Candidates Tournament this spring, which pits 8 qualifiers to decide the next challenger for Magnus Carlson, contains two Russians:

Ian Nepomniachtchi, a soft-spoken former challenger who seems rattled by the invasion, and
Sergey Karjakin, another former challenger who celebrated the Crimea takeover in 2014 and is actively spreading Putin talking points via Twitter.

Prez Ze is calling volunteers from anywhere in the world to come and defend Ukraine.

how many usa patriots will answer the call?

Apparently Putin has said he views SWIFT sanctions as a declaration of war. So will be interesting to see.

This is likely by far the strongest sanction they can take.

This could trigger Article 5.

They’ve already yanked the Olympiad from Russia. Shouldn’t be too hard to find an alternative location. They just need a hotel and some tables.

Yeah 2024-2028 going to be some fun times with Putin and Trump. Imagine all this but with trump being President cheering him on.

#peetapesarereal?

it’s just chaos over there. they are losing battles and armed personnel at least hundreds, if not thousands every day. even though they thought it was going to be a shock-and-awe special op. there’s panic in moscow, 11 bln rubles were withdrawn from banks in cash. over a war most of the regular people have nothing to do with.

they fucked around, they know they are about to find out.

ETA: Defense Ministry apparently continues to claim that they carried no casualties.

It’s a big deal because it shuts down the ability for banks to interact with other banks. There isn’t a secondary service that I am aware of.

I haven’t heard anyone echo jail’s sentiments and since Putin considers it an uncrossable line…

BITCOIN BITCOIN BITCOIN.

I am having trouble finding good news sources. Any suggestions? Which battles have they lost?

Newsweek reporting that Ukraine did, in fact, hit an airbase in Russia.
