I have one that I’m pretty optimistic about and two that I suspect will do poorly.

Let’s do the 00’s to start off with. Some really great themes missing from entries here, including

and

From opposite ends of the decade. Either would have ranked really highly with me.

But lets see what did come out on top.

While I am revealing this third, going back, this is probably the entry list that was most disappointing.

There are some great songs that were missed for some reallll stinkers.

Such as - In 7th place, scoring 2

I mean…

Look, I am no Hank Williams fan, but the MNF theme is everything the SNF theme wished it could be.

Why is this some weird take on “Hate myself for loving you”? Why am I not even in the least bit pumped up to watch football after this? Who decided that Faith Fucking Hill is the face of football music?

This is a terrible entry.

I get why this is iconic even though BSG wasn’t my type of show, but this really doesn’t get me in the mood to do much of anything besides fall asleep. Too slow, too plodding, picks up a bit at the end, but doesn’t make me want to watch the show in any way

The next two entries absolutely scream early to mid 2000s to me, and they are essentially tied in my ind, but by walrus rules everywhere, there must be a hierarchy.

Gonna give folks a few to catch up. Be back shortly.

Well, I’ll post since no matter where I finish, it’s higher than the previous two categories, so I count it as a win. Bring it on, curse.

also, lol at SNF “song”. Sorry, but I agree with CM here…

Alright, in 5th place, scoring 4

I never watched Rescue Me, and had no idea this song was from Rescue Me. Somehow I could not find just an opening theme version of this, so this is what you get. Its fine. Its very 90s. I assume it works for the show. But fine is about as far as I can go with this one.

In 4th place, scoring 5… The TWO entrants who submitted

Another show I did not watch, but with a super 2000s theme. I like this one slightly more than cmon cmon, so it gets the nod. Its catchy and interesting and musically pleasant, but doesn’t have the “grab you and force you to watch this show coming up” feel that the podium does.

I listened to this band. The leader singer is the guy who got his face beat in by Jack White

omfg I had a duplicate? ugh, I feel so basic now.

Thats funny, I was thinking of writing how much this song reminded me of the White Stripes

Interesting. I didn’t think this was you based on your “all cartoon” entry comment.

Speaking of which, in 3rd place, scoring 6

Hello random Japanese anime theme. Have I seen this show? Do I know what the singer is saying? Do I care?

Nope to all three. I really like this.

Gonna reveal the final two together, since they are from the GOAT 2000s channel, HBO

well, I decided against that course of action, since the 70s were just bad for cartoons. great for real shows, but man, all the good cartoon themes were 60s or 80s

In 2nd place, scoring 7

And in first place, scoring 8

It was really hard choosing between these two, and while I love the theme to The Wire, its painfully clear that from the entries submitted, Curb is by far the most iconic and one that instantly gets me stoked to embrace the cringe. LD chose the best possible song for this show, and we should all be grateful for it.

Its so iconic to me, that anytime I hear the HBO static opening, dun dun dun… goes off in my head, regardless of what show is coming up next.

Well done, JT

lol CYE being #1 gtfo

It’s good in the context of the show but not as an actual piece itself. Like, I’d never sit down listening to CYE on my smartphone.

Anyway, I got 3rd place again. FTR, the lyrics are in the YT video. I do wonder if the shortened OP theme would have done better.

I really wish I thought of more cartoons. I mean highly regarded J-Pop stars do the OPs for anime shows.

I actually have it in my rotation, and it always brings a smile to my face.
