My silly speculation…the security company was founded by an ex-special forces guy who seems to have some history of legal security work. Guaido paying for this is barely different than the US government paying for it. Using private contractors is ubiquitous in the US military/FP nowadays. Regardless of whether this plan originated in the US or with Guido or Colombia or whatever, it never happens (not with a company operating out of the US) without US approval and almost certainly some kind of direct assistance.
The CEO was friends with Trumps bodyguard Keith Schiller (big rabbit hole on this guy) and silverforce has done security at some of Trumps rallies.
The dumbass also tweeted this the day that the mission was happening. His twitter was deleted as of yesterday

Pretty much. You have to imagine the least involvement possible is that someone knew about it, but knew they were all idiots and figured it was fine to let them fuck up anyway.
The best conspiracy might be that there were articles about how weird it was that Alcala was taken in to US custody at the time it happened. “Why are the US pursuing an active anti-Maduro guy at the same time as funding them?” The guesses I saw were an internal spat and / or incompetence. Maybe they brought him in to then take over this thing?
I imagine this is another one where we need to wait a decade or more for the book that will detail who knew what, when, and which no one will care about.
Actually I totally misremembered this, Alcala started singing about his plot as soon as the US handed down the indictment. I still would find it remarkable if someone in the US intelligence world didn’t know about this as it was set up, but you’d hope whoever included him in the drug stuff (which was targeted at Maduro) didn’t as it seems to have blown it all up. But who the hell knows, and definitely need to wait for the book.
