Holy shit. I just watched the Arbery video. There’s no possible way anyone could honestly watch that and not say that’s an open-and-shut example of murder.
Not that I feel like starting it or adding much to it, but attempting to overthrow or maybe kidnap Maduro seems like bigger news than this thread is usually used for.
I’m not going to watch it, but I feel that these sort of cases not being prosecuted are eventually going to result in people seeking vigilante justice when some people get angry enough to decide they can’t take it anymore. And of course, that will eventually lead to collateral damage or the wrong people being attacked.
I mean this was some vigilante group going for the reward money, right?
Like who knows really, but…no.
It’s being prosecuted. Probably because the video leaked. Maybe because a special prosecutor was just appointed.
I mean, you look at these pictures and it’s hard to imagine that that’s the elite group the US government would send in to try to take out Maduro. Looks more like eight dudes got drunk on a fishing boat with some guns and said, “Fuck it, let’s go take out that Maduro guy!”
I only spent five minutes on this but there’s a bit more than a few Twitter pictures out there. Micro’s post pretty much covers a sensible response imo. The US line is a Cuban/Venezuelan false flag for now, but that could easily change.
Yeah I admittedly haven’t spent any time on this one, I just took one look at those dudes and was like, “Seal Team Six it ain’t.”
Fuck those mercenaries. More Blackwater-like mercs need to get got. Thoughts and prayers.
Yeah, I watched it, it’s horrifying beyond words. I’m totally numb to how horrifying these things continue to be, I can’t process them, I am running out of things to say or ways to express my emotions about these. This is who we are as a country and as a society. Some racist fucks got bored and went out and lynched a black guy in 2020 and damn near got away with it, and still may (good luck finding a jury of 12 that’ll convict these guys in Georgia). Just fucking cold blooded murder, and the entire justice system there tried to look the other way. If they didn’t get unlucky enough to have a dude driving behind them taking video, they’d have walked 100% free.
The thing that’s making me feel the most hollow and numb about it is that I know it won’t change. Not this year, not next, not before 2025, if we even get that far in a functional society. And what the fuck kind of functional society does this nightmare even fucking qualify as? I guess what I mean is if we’re still voting and having elections that are like at least 25-30% fair so the good people have a chance to maybe win, but it’s stacked against us so much.
So I don’t really know what to do anymore. Go to a protest? Not a chance it helps anytime in that time frame. Write a 500 word post about it? Good for me, cool store cuse bro, way to virtue signal a little I guess cause this post sure as shit isn’t changing a fucking thing. Pick up a brick? And do what? Get myself arrested or killed? It won’t do a damn thing for anyone to change anything. No, there’s nothing I can do to prevent this, there’s nothing. Everything I do or have done to help is just making me feel better, no more, no less. A protest here, a political donation there, door knocking every 2 years, it’s a drop in a fucking bucket that the bad guys are pouring out the window while laughing at the fire they’ve built, but at least I can say I’m one of the good guys and in 20 years say I did something to try to help with some of the catastrophic problems in our society.
But it’s just going to keep happening, and every few weeks/months there will be another horrifying video. Cops beating a kid. Cops killing a teen. Vigilante murderous thugs killing an unarmed black guy out for a fucking jog.
Fuck this shit. Fuck this helplessness. Fuck the people doing this shit. Fuck the people like me for ultimately, at the end of the day, going to bed accepting that there’s no way to change it. Fuck me, too.
Ultimately, in like 20 years when millennials are the dominant generation in politics, if America makes it that far, we’ll finally get some of this shit fixed, and there will be a lot of celebration. Lots of millennials will be patting themselves on the back and thumping their chests about how morally superior we were as a generation and how we finally got it done after all those years. But they’ll all sort of be assholes for it, because thousands of people will have suffered or died over those years until they finally got something done.
What a pathetic clusterfuck of a society we are.
True enough, but even if this were directed by the highest levels in the US then they’d probably not use elite forces in uniform. And Maduro et al would probably try and make anyone look like pathetic fuck ups in the afterwards pictures.
I gotta say, Trump hiring a small team of Florida based dimwit LARPers to carry out a coup sounds like literally exactly how you’d expect him to do it. Won’t be surprised if it turns out the CEO is a member at Mar a Lago.
This, most likely he said something stupid at Marlago and someone took it as a green light to run with some half-assed special-op cos-play dream. I expect a multi-million dollar government contract with some “consulting” company to come to light about this…
From what I read, it sounds like he was with the other two guys, but I don’t think it’s been 100% confirmed yet, at least not publicly.
There’s already a contract being waved about, apparently with Guaido.
This seems like the best original reporting on it so far, but I haven’t had chance to read it properly yet.
Of course he is.
Good god nobody involved in this had ever heard of the Bay of Pigs? I didn’t think it was possible to fuck up worse than that, but this… this is worse lol. At least the scale is smaller and the US government doesn’t seem to have done it.
“That really happened? I saw it in a movie, I thought it was bullshit.”
“I figured it would be different under a Republican”
