Outside of the twin cities MN is super deplorable but most of those people are in farm or mining communities so they always used to vote Dem. The Dem party is called the DFL, democratic farmer labor, but Dems don’t give a fuck about labor or any of that shit anymore and those people are all racist so yeah they’ve turned to the Repubs
Farm labor in CA doesn’t vote. They aren’t citizens. I assume it used to be that farm labor in MN were citizens, but maybe that’s changed. A “farmer” here is someone who owns a farm and hires labor. The farms are generally huge. There aren’t many “farmers”. And, even in most of CA, when you get outside the cities, they vote R.
Crops in MN aren’t the same. It’s mostly families with some employees if any and millions of dollars of equipment and machinery.
Farms are 90% owned by mega corps now. Those farmers will be fine.

Yup. There are loads of working-class white Midwestern schlubs who’ve voted reliably Democratic for generations because the Dems used to be on the side of unions.
Republicans gave them Fox News plen-t-plaints, Neoliberal Dems told them to go learn to code or something, and then people are like shockedpikachu.gif when the Dems lose Pennsylvania.

Not sure what you mean by “90%” or “mega-Corps” but this isn’t true.
I was recently on a flight from Omaha back to Mexico City and sat next to a young guy who lives in Cancún, Mexico. He has a family back in Cancún, but goes to Kansas for 6 months out of the year to work the farms and send money back home. He was with a crew of about a dozen other guys from different parts of Mexico. He said he’s been doing this for about 6 years. He didn’t really have any English. Must be a very tough life, but I admire the work ethic.
Pretty crazy to me that most Mexicans are villainized and it’s extremely difficult for honest people to even acquire a visa (I’m going through the process soon with my girlfriend b/c I’d like to show her a bit of the States). Of course the rich corporations will always be able to find their loopholes to capitalize on the poors and the gubmint will look the other way.

Americans all just assume Canadians could visit here any time, get a visa and take a vacation. Of course we can go to like 190 out of the 195 countries, no prob. But it’s hard for someone from Mexico to even get a visa to travel around here. Disgusting.
