I’ve gotten at least five letters at work in the past two weeks from vendors notifying us about price increases coming in January 2020. All five referenced “tariffs” either wholly or in part of the reason for the increases. I make sure Boss Man sees them all. He’s wearing his Trump National polo shirt today.
Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses.
Pretty solid example of right wing apologetics in there.
APnews not the Onion?
That’s socialism!
Levitiicus 19:33-34 33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God."
Yeah but they didn’t have MS-13 back then.
The problem with this tactic is very few Christians actually read the bible.
Years ago, I helped run a survey which found that 40% of Christians had read the entire bible. In contrast, 63% of atheists had.
Both of those percentages sound WAY too high.
Yah, maybe if he’d said .40% and .63% I might believe it. The Bible is freakin’ massive.
and unreadable
It was almost 15 years ago. We never published because the atheist sample was not random. It was all people who were members of the local atheist organization.
The Christian group was random in that it represented several faiths. The question they answered was something like “what percentage of the bible have you read”.
I assume many people who answered 100% meant in bits and pieces during bible study.
I also strongly suspect many people who answered 100% on both sides were lying.
There is no way more than like 1-2% of people have read the entire Bible. I would be shocked if 40% of Christians had read literally ANY of the Bible beyond the stuff that is read to them in church or quoted in various forms of media.
Like, I went to 8ish years of CCD on Sundays after church as a child and I don’t think we ever read any actual bible passages the entire time. But I could be misremembering.
Most of my experience with religious people is Mormons. They read the bible, in passages, all the time.
Almost certainly most, rather than many. And most atheists ime are more familiar with the difficult, objectionable or outright silly parts of the Bible than they are capable of elucidating Trinitarianism or whatnot (not that I’m an exception).
My point was mostly that there are many Christians who believe un-Christian things and behave in un-Christian ways. Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of stuff to change in my life as well, but ya, don’t believe everything you hear on Fox News about Christianity.
Friend of mine knows Jenn…says she’s the strongest person she knows. She’s really active here in San Diego
