I agree, but I think the timing makes it skew more toward partisan actors.

Leaker clearly put some thought into when exactly to leak. I’m not sure this is the optimal moment, but even if it isn’t the absolute best time, it’s pretty good.

Leaker didn’t pick the timing. NYT has likely had them for months. This kind of report takes a long time to put together, confirm and vet through legal.

Meanwhile Trump will be appealing whether actual prosecutors can get the returns that are now basically publicly available for like 4 more years, lol law

Leaker could have embargoed it or something. The timing makes me think there are bigger and better stories coming.
Closer to the election is better than early in his term.
NYT also said today that more is coming out in the next few weeks.

Yeah, probably.
But how about a month from now?
It needs to be close but not too close. Maybe a few weeks later is better, but probably not by much. This timing, if not perfect, is still quite good.
Hopefully that’s when the pee tapes get released.

“The Atlantic” also said the “losers and suckers” comment about dead American troops was the “tip of the iceberg”. None of this is surprising about Trump. What’s really troubling is that it doesn’t move the needle even a little bit with his supporters. Not sure how we recover from that.

I’ve always been a fan of trying to needle Trump so badly that there is a legitimate risk he might nuke someone. I think people have been soft partly because they are afraid of collateral damage from him lashing out in anger.
