Do we think other GOP presidents nominate people more qualified? Trump has nothing to do with picking the ghouls getting these jobs.
Did Bush really nominate 30 year old Cooley grads? If so I guess I missed it.
This guy? Obviously painful but he withdrew his nomination. Under questioning from noted Trump critic, uh, John Kennedy
What about the other dozens of people confirmed the ABA (which is a joke organization) said were unqualified. Hell Kav has never tried a case. He is now on the SC.
You think these people were picked because of Trump though? Ted Cruz puts the exact same people through.
Right, didn’t Trump just nominate whoever McConnell told him to? He dgaf about rando federal court judges.
I’m not sure Cruz puts the same people through tbh. Maybe he does. Bush era appointees were way more qualified than Trump ones though.
Trump got 7 aba unqualified nominees confirmed. Doesn’t seem that outrageous.
Do you think Biden will get hundreds of judges confirmed and 3 SC judges? Do you think Trump stooges make good judges?
But Trump asked them to do so. It may not be the strongest or a likely successful attempt, but it’s an attempt to get a bunch of legislatures to disregard legitimate election results.
This is getting pretty far afield. Clarence Thomas and Kav and Alito are all not going to try to overturn Trump’s election. They’re going to be extremely reticent to even get involved. Are they good judges? I don’t know, probably not. But they’re certainly not so overtly political they’d do that sort of kangaroo court nonsense.
Narrator: it was an attempted coup.
Man I just have a feeling that this is going to be the one thread where keeeeed disagrees with everybody and actually listens and changes his mind. I’m sure just a few hundred more replies should do the trick.
You are arguing something that is irrelevant
If I shoot someone with the intent to kill them, it doesn’t matter what alito does or does not do
The attempt is what makes it a coup.
Most people here are not 100% convinced that this is true and will point to cases such as the recent Diocese of Brooklyn v Cuomo as proof that the court’s conservatives are willing to vote for their preferred outcome and tack on some spurious legal reasoning to get there.
Why do you exclude Gorsuch and Barrett?
couldn’t remember their names offhand
I hate to agree with keed , as the point is so completely meaningless, but a coup has to be illegal and involve violence as far as I understand the term. That being said who cares? What Trump is doing is as dangerous as a coup, has many elements of a coup, and is absolutely intended for Trump to remain in power.
Maybe he’s counting coup.
Mostly it has to do with Trump’s intent. I’m saying Trump isn’t doing any of this stuff with the intent or expectation that he will stay in power. It’s all PR to stir up his base.
You are still making the mistake of assigning 3D strategy to one of Trump’s actions. There isn’t much excuse for this error after 5 years.
